Just curious, who would you like to see come back and serve a term or two? Do you think any of our former presidents could solve this country's economy and our debt calamity better than Obama?

Debt calamity?
US debt in the WW2 era as a percentage of GDP is higher than what it is today.
However to the average person, the "trillions" seems like a big number, but they fail to take into account of how many multiples the US economy has grown since then.

Now, can the US government pay back it's debt? Sure it can, by playing with inflation to make buying back debt favorable, raising taxes and cutting spending, it's entirely possible, but guess what? You would go into recession.

The USA's debt pays for your military which employs millions with millions more indirectly via companies such as Boeing and other contractors.
It pays for infrustructure, science and technology research,  education and helps maintain your relatively high standards of living. (I say relatively, because other countries are still far better off.)

The problem I saw however when the US entered recession and companies started to falter was that, instead of allowing market forces to dictate what happens to companies, the US government spent Trillions "bailing" them out.
They should have been left to fail, if the markets demand a certain product a business will provide such a thing, that's actually one of the massive advantages capitalism brings.
It's also one of the reasons why the debt ballooned, the US government increased spending, but was actually earning less, the war didn't help either.
The US should bring back it's troops which will save 100's of billions of dollars, save American lives and you will better protect your own borders with the additional man power.

Plus you need to remember, countries enter and exit recessions at varying times, it's the nature of the beast, you can't have continued growth forever sustainably, it's unrealistic.

Besides as a sovereign nation with a sovereign currency with 2/3rds of it's debt owned by the US, there is no need to pay back the debt, same with Japan as most of it's debt is owned by the country.

However, I wouldn't vote for any American president, however I would vote for Ron Paul and if the American's don't vote for him, send him to the land down under so he can have a go here. :P

I'm not very knowledgable on American persidents but I think Mr Obama and Bill Clinton both were very likeable even though I am a conservative and nationalist. Both had extremely high charisma. Also Mr Bush junior was likeable, funny and cool.

George Bush so people of The United States of America stop criticizing Obama and come to the realization what a shitty president is really like. I'm not saying Obama is great but hes not as bad as everyone speculates.
