Has 3DS peaked in its first year in the US?

Yes it peaked in its first year!! 10 32.26%

No it's yet to peak 21 67.74%

Total:31

Question! What about price? Didn't the DS start selling extremely well at $129? The 3DS is still priced at $169 MSRP, correct? Do you think pricing the 3DS at $129 will increase it to over the 3DS 2011 US sales? Just curious.

I expect it to drop from here on out. This year will likely be a relatively small drop to 3.3-3.5m, while next year it will drop to something like 2.6-2.8m and so on. I just don't see what games would make it go up YOY when it has already had Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Mario Kart and Mario.

I think it will end its life around 23-25m in the US.

The answer isn't obvious? More Pokemon, more Mario, more Kirby.
It's not unheard of to have two Pokemon generations in one console anymore.

Let us wait and see. Maybe there are people waiting for Pokemon Z or whatever Game Freak decides to call it.

looks at avatar* sorry what?

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

Historically speaking I think it has peaked, although it could be flat for another year or two.

Yeah, but a second Pokemon wouldn't stop it from declining YOY. Heck, the first one barely had an effect overall.

It would definitely improve it YOY. Not to the sales of 2011, but in relativity to the preceding year before it. Although, it's all based on what all they compile with that Pokemon release. If that's their tentpole game for that year, then I agree with you.
