Forums - General - [Anime] Dub vs Sub?

do you prefer the dub or sub?

Sub 56 66.67%

Dub 28 33.33%

Total:84

Sub for every foreign language unless either the original voice acting is horrible or the 'more familiar' language voice acting is superb. Thus, Japanese for almost everything Japanese but MGS, for example, works well in English too.

I voted subbed because the animes I'm curently watching the most (Naruto and Attack on Titan')I watch the sub. But after thinking about it, in my life I watched more dubbed than subbed.

I watched Death Note, DBZ, Full Metal Alchemist and Inuyasha dubbed.

What?! I can't hear you over all this awsome! - Pyrrhon (Kid Icarus:Uprising)

Final Ultimate Legendary Earth Power Super Max Justice Future Miracle Dream Beautiful Galaxy Big Bang Little Bang Sunrise Starlight Infinite Fabulous Totally Final Wonderful Arrow...FIRE! - Wonder-Red (The Wonderful101)

Mostly subs. But there are some anime that I prefer the english dub like DBZ and Fullmetal Alchemist.

Subs. Dub in english are already bad, imagine in french.

I always prefer sub, but dub is necessary for the audiences that arent lets say anime fans to be interested.

I have someone at home that wont watch them unless they are in (dubbed) english.

There are some animes who sound better in Brazilian Portuguese dub than japanese, honestly. If there's one thing this country's good is dubbing stuff, you see? So I'm torn on this one. I was used to DBZ and Pokémon in portuguese and both the American and Japanese dubbings were cringe-worthy, specially the American.

Dub, i'm almost always multitasking when i'm watching anime.

I have a thing where if I watch it subbed I can't stand dubbed version and vice versa lol

It depends on the anime for me.

Like DBZ sound weird in Japanese. Vegeta in english sounds like a bad ass, in japanese not so much.

What I hate is when they americanise the anime too much (i.e. like the first attempt at dubbing initial d, trimmed his name and added rap music lol)

Definitely depends on the anime, the quality of the dub, and the delay between subbed and dubbed versions.

Generally I prefer subbed, Japanese expressions fit over the top situations much better, and dubbed versions of long running anime like Naruto are many episodes behind the fansubs.

That said, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Akira, Pokemon, Dragonball, Dragonball Z, and Dragonball GT all have really good dubs that I prefer to watch. Full Metal Alchemist also has a really good dub, but I still prefer the sub.
