Hmm...it's tough because Godzilla has had so many movies, comics, etc., to build up the creature's mythology.

My first experience was the pretty awful 1998 Godzilla movie, though it is a bit of a guilty pleasure. I really loved the Cloverfield movie, but the marketing on that was excellent, so I don't how much my hype factors in there. I am dying to see the Godzilla reboot this year though.

Screw it, I just love big ass monsters, so everybody wins yayyy!

The Cloverfield movie is fantastic.

If it was a nuclear attack, there would have been a blinding white flash before the blast, and the camera's SD card would have been wiped by the EMP.

Realism isn't always important in monster movies. I thought the military said it was a nuke.

Pacific rim is the best gigantic monster movie ever made...that is all I have to add to this.

Godzilla because Cloverfield is one of the worst movies I have ever seen, right up there with Snakes on a plain.

They are both wonderful creatures and I can't tell who would win. Throw in this, though and you'll have a tougher, more hardcore version of Pacific Rim.

This, I stole from grandpa...It's called soap.

It depends on which Godzilla you're talking about. If were talking the new Godzilla from the upcoming movie I don't see things going well for Cloverfield though.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Godzilla.

As far as venom goes, I have little doubt that Godzilla would develop immunity.

Really, though, it would come down to intelligence. There have been many, many cases where Godzilla won by out-smarting his opponent, often by luring them into a trap.

G-money has amazing regenerative and adaptive abilities, a full arsenal of weapons, experience, amazing tenacity and will-power, and he's extremely cunning. I don't see him losing very easily. Even if he does lose, one of his primary methods for eventual victory is to "lose", regenerate, then return to stomp a mud-hole in an enemy that is still damaged from their previous battle.

I've seen it about a dozen times and read up on the lore, and I don't recall that being referenced. Besides, in the ending, we hear multiple, continuous explosions, not one big bang.
