Forums - Gaming - Any console converts here? And why?

Last gen I thought I would buy the next box/xbox 720 first, and PS4 down the line.

Instead, around the time infamous comes out my first next gen will be a PS4, and that is down to numerous factors.

Primarily, i <3 indies, and hotline miami 2 was a big seller for me, also the ps plus service seems more worth paying for as well as the £80 price difference. (Already subbed to btw for about a year)

Ok so im not a true switcher but it's a big change from what I was expecting from last year.

Had 360 last gen, got ps3 2 years later around 2009, as time went on, Ps3 kept getting better and better, 360 stopped trying with exclusives, kinect was being pushed, now x1 and don;t think I will ever go back to xbox. Ms policies annoy me, their PR irritates me and their system seems to be all over the place. Sony just seems more focused on gaming while still being robust with media, MS seems to be trying too hard on media, and also doing gaming.

happy about sticking with sony.

I missed console gaming last gen, joined budget PC gaming around 2008. From launch I supported the Wii and what it stood for from the sidelines (on the net >_>). Around 2010 my allegiance changed to the PS3. At the start of this gen I landed my first job and upgraded my PC to upper mainstream levels and grabbed a WiiU about 6 months after launch. I still believed in what the Wii stood for. If my PC didn't exist Id have waited and got a PS4 first and then got a WiiU later. As it stands there's not enough separating the PS4 from my PC but I expect to own one eventually. I have nothing against XBox its just not my cup of tea, paying for live "was" a big deal though. In-fact paying for PSN might be a barrier as I'm used to free online on my PC and WiiU >_>

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

Switching to Nintendo. I was a SEGA kid all along, I moved with most SEGA kids to Xbox, then Xbox 360. After red-rings and a poor exclusives library I moved to PS3 which was a great move for me. I love my PS3, fantastic console. I also enjoy the PSOne, PS2, and PSP. So Sony are doing well in my eyes. However, I got a 3DS as part of my phone contract and it's become my most played platform. With the Wii U having some great games and Wii backwards compatability I've decided to go to Nintendo for the first time. I had a SNES and GBA back in the day, but I skipped the N64, GameCube and Wii. Only got a second hand GameCube last year. To go primary console Nintendo is a big switch for me but I can see it working. I will get a PS4 in before the end of 2016, but not before. I want it to build up a decent library of games that won't be released simultaneously on PS3 before I give it a go. Future potential is good, but I want Sony to earn that money, and they've yet to do it for PS4.

Sony really dropped the ball with the PS3 so I've mostly been gaming on my 360 lately but MS has totally botched the XBone, therefore the PS4 wins by default.

I sold my Vita to get a 3DS. I was really disappointed by the amount/ types of games being offered on the Vita.

The 3DS is my first Nintendo handheld and the second Nintendo console I've owned. (the last one being the Super Nintendo).

I was a Nintendo fan for ages (the N64 was my first console), but my love of JRPG's pushed me to getting a PS2 late in its lifespan. Then, over half a decade later, I entirely skipped the 7th gen of consoles and went back to Nintendo consoles for the Wii U. Of course, console gaming has often taken a backseat for handheld and PC gaming in my life, so this was not very dramatic.

I've been a Nintendo since the NES until the PSX was released. I still like Nintendo but I'm a Playstation fan. Sony tripped up early last gen, but they turned things around and in my opinion, were best last gen. I've got a Vita and 3DS right now, going to possibly get a PS4 first, but not until the end of this year when I can get a good deal and cheap games on Black Friday. Right now the PS4 has no games. If Wii U gets Smash Bros this year, I'll also get one of those on Black Friday for cheap as well.

PS2 to 360 to PS4. JRPG is my favorite genre so PS4 is the easy choice for me personally. That could change if MS makes some serious attempts at getting JRPG games on XO.
