Forums - Gaming - Kaz Hirai: PS4 Isn’t Selling Well Just Because it’s a New Console; The Same Goes for Xbox One

Kaz is either delusional or full of shit. Neither system has anything unique to it that makes it different than its predecessors, nor do either have any must have games......at the moment. The only emotion moving things is fanboys emotions moving them to buy 1st gen hardware.

So he's full of it because his opinion is different from yours?

For me, the DS4, streamlined UI, and the social features make the PS4 uniquely different than the PS3.  Also, the concept of "must-have games" is vastly overrated.  Most people buy a console simply because there are games that interest them.  Not many things in life are "must-haves".  I've been playing mostly ACIV, NBA2K14, and Resogun on my PS4.  I wouldn't categorize any of them as "must-haves", but they are all fun and enjoyable and I'm glad I purchased the console.

I just played Resogun and i'm glad i purchased the console. I know great things will come. Can't wait for february and march. Greatness awaits. :)

Ummmmmm. I am pretty sure they are selling well because they launched with the COD (the USA's top system seller last gen) and FIFA (Europes top system seller last gen). If they both launched with just Killzone and Deadrising they would have sold like garbage. Thats the entire reason. 3DS is selling great because it has SM3DL,Pokemon, and Mario Kart. Vita is failing because it doesnt have GTA & Monster Hunter. Its pretty simple.

Going to have to disagree with you. CoD and Fifa were both already available on PS3 and 360 and have also sold a lot more on those two consoles.

It is.

But oh well, it's not a bad thing, and the games will come.

Yea because there in an install base of 80 million per old console and about 3.5 million each of the new consoles.    There have been about 7 million PS4's/Xbones sold and combined COD 2.9 million, Fifa 1.82 million, and I will through Battlefield in there at 2.11 millon.   Those install rates are 41% for COD, 26 percent for FIFA, and 30 percent for Battlefield.   I do think Killzone has had some console moving power too but those are your main games moving these consoles.

I think its too early to tell if they are truly expanding the market or selling to the faithful.

I bought a WiiU, an X1 and I'll buy a PS4 soon, but sales to myself and most others like me aren't expanding the market.

I've seen nothing to suggest that these new consoles are selling to those who weren't already in one camp or the other already.

If these sales continue at this pace, then we may have something, but the last gen was one of the longest and I feel that there was pent up demand by the established gaming market.

Nehhh... a title that requires re-reading to make you understand isn't a good title imo... with that being said... agreed but its hard to tell atm... once the hype goes down, we will all know
