Hardcore porn porn game. Sounds interesting.

You're misconstruing my words; by 'ridiculous' I mean 'absurd', not bad. As in, the idea of dancing while waving your hands around for the sake of a video game presents a comical image that is hard to take seriously.

Considering I started the thread, and I was a cheerleader (yes, I'm a guy) in high school, and we were State Champs 4 years in a row, I'm pretty sure I'm not knocking it for being girl oriented.

I'm picking on it because it sounds ridiculous

Ditto. Nobody is knocking it because it's somehow a 'girl's game, like you claimed.

We are joking around it because to us, it sounds like a bunch of half-baked mini-games taking advantage of the wiifit popularity.

Can you jump up and down on your Wiifit board? Can you do a human pyramid on there? Does it register screams?

Dance Dance Revolution has you move around on a dance pad constantly, and is an accepted staple of gaming. Is this also absurd? Or does it only become absurd once it requires you to use your hands and legs?

Samba De Amigo is a very well recieved game that has you flail your hands around to the rhythm, even in the previous iterations.

Again, it's a little hard to not be suspicious when this particular game is singled out. It sounds fine to me, just as Samba De Amigo, Rock Band, Guitar Hero, Dance Dance Revolution, and Donkey Konga do.

Explain to me, one more time because I seem to be slow, why this specific game is absurd and ridiculous, while all the other games that have you flailing your body around like Rock Band and DDR are considered chic? I'm not asking that question sarcastically, I'm honestly curious.

If it was made in sincerity, the premise has some mild potential.
However, it sounds like a quick cash in designed to appeal to the casual part of the Wii's userbase.

And part of the reason DDR is such a staple is because of the whole absurdity of the premise. Are you more impressed when you see fat kids busting out their DDR skills? Or amused?

The fact is, this game just sounds like a quick cash in that builds off of the success of the rhythm games you mentioned, with a lame cheering tie-in to boost appeal to an audience that isn't usually catered to in hopes of boosting sales.

I'm with Bodhesatva on this one. I can see this title appealing to a lot of girls (and maybe a couple guys) who always wanted or at least played with the idea of being a cheerleader, but aren't. Wish fulfillment.

If it's a solid rhythm game to, and fun, then there's no reason why this game shouldn't do well. I hope it comes to NA, our girls could use the exercise.

DDR is absolutely awesome. what are you talking about? how is it completely absurd? it is a crowd pleaser through and through. some people have mad skillz.

lots of crowd pleasers, in, say, classical music, are very low on musical content, absurd even. but the crowd eats it up.

the Wii is an epidemic.

since people keep on bring this up.

Rockband has its own guitar, drums, Mic that specifically designed for the game.
DDR has its own pad: that specifically designed for the game.
Guitar Hero has its own guitar: that specifically designed for the game.

Wiifit can measure exactly 2 motions, shift to the left, and right, and the shift of your centre of gravity is measured in a slow and accurate pace. It's perfect for workout, horrible for fast pace action like cheerleading.

Which part of the description gives you that feeling? I'll quote the entirety of the quoted article that describes the game (most of it simply jabs at the game).

Namco also has an American-developed Wii cheerleading title, in which one uses the balance board for clandestine dancing operations and the nunchuck/Wiimote combo as pom poms.

It's such a straightforward description that I'm not really sure how you managed to glean such insight into the game's construction. What portion of this informs you that it's a quick cash in? And just as a side note, please do recognize that DDR games and the like take virtually no time to create now. DDR2 SuperNova Deluxe Ultra Edition is a palette swap and a new song selection away from being DDR3 SuperNova Deluxe Ultra Edition. Guitar Hero had 3 iterations in the span of 13 months (GH II, GH Rocks the 80s, GH III) with more already promised on the way. Given that a new Guitar Hero can be pumped out in a matter of 6 months, I assume we can agree these are all ridiculous as well, and deserve similar threads lampooning their existance?
