Putting this on 3DS as well was stabbing Wii U in the back. Good going Nintendo. Morons.

Shame on them for making a portable version of one of their most popular franchises. I don't deserve the right to play Smash Bros at Denny's.

Making one of the biggest system sellers for your desperately struggling home console multiplatform is just a dumb business decision.

There going to make money because there is portable version. The west will play wiiu and Japan on 3ds.  There job isn't to save the wiiu it's to make money. Throwing money down drain  isn't a good business decision just to raise a console a little more.

3DS Smash is only money in the short term, at the possible expense of more money in the long term should their idiocy push them out of the home console space.

Depends on how they make it. It looks like they're doing it the right way - they're not the same game on both platforms, they're distinct. If they make it so that having both games makes for a much greater overall experience, then they can not only sell more total copies between the two versions, but also use it as a vehicle to push 3DS owners to buy a Wii U.

In terms of 3DS play, you may need four copies to play regular four player battles. This provides an extra benefit to buying the Wii U version - one copy gives you full multiplayer.

EDIT: Also, I'm hoping that owners of both versions get to connect the two together to transfer, for instance, trophies between the two, so you can show off your full collection of both handheld- and console-based trophies at the same time.

Personally, I don't think Smash Bros on 3DS is the worst idea. However, it's also not the smartest move. I can definitely get used to playing Smash Bros on the go! Though, no one can deny that it will affect the Wii U in a negative way. I already see some people on these forums saying that they will get the 3DS version of the game, with no mention of purchasing the Wii U version (or at least considering getting a Wii U for that version). That says quite a bit already. The fact that Super Smash Bros is also for the 3DS discourages people from buying a Wii U, since they already know the game is on a console that's cheaper and more affordable. I don't want any hate, but this is quite true. And trust me, I'm a huge Ninty fan that would love to see Nintendo succeed both ways :D

this guy gets it. I think some people only care so their console could "win" the war.

They should release the Wii U version a month before the 3DS one to help mitigate the harm.

how in the hell is it money in the short term? The 3DS has a much bigger install base which means a much better potential for selling more games and having much more legs. Are you just saying stuff at this point?

It's short term compared to the loss of their home console division for the remainder of that market's existence.

thats not the same thing at all. Last time i checked ninty owned 3ds so they are getting their money no matter what from Smash. You are putting way too much importance on Wii U.

If Wii U sinks, Nintendo might leave the home console space. That damage outweighs the money they'll make from 3DS Smash.
