Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo loses lawsuit, must pay 1.82% of 3DS wholesale price to Tomita Technologies LTD

so imagine the 3DS sells 100m, which it probably will, these guys would get 200 million dollars for those cameras that nobody uses?

Tomita tried to sell the tech to Nintendo and were turned down, then their tech appeared in the 3DS. This is not a patent troll case.

You dirty Nintendo! Stealing tech from people!

Doing nothing? They developed the tech and Nintendo took it without paying.

Yea but they are not manufacturing the Camera or anything like that... Yea there are R&D Costs and patent but apart from that... they can basically just sit back and get a royalty from Nintendo. I am not saying they don't have the right to have the royalty, I am just saying that there isn't any future cost involved to have this royalty

Yeah that's true.

I believe Nintendo already has to pay Tomita $15 million in damages; so is the 1.82% that must be paid by Nintendo per system at whole sale for future 3DSs sold or is it for both future and past 3DSs sold?

It looks like for future 3ds only.... 2ds will be fine ;)

Switch!!!

now 1.82% is any kind of deal?
thats nothing for Nintndo. of course is a lot for the guy. good for him

1.82% of every 3DS sold. He could make 34m out of next 10m 3DS' sold. Of course I'm just estimating here so that's not an exact figure but it should be something close to that.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!
