Forums - Sales - Brasil Sales Rankings - November 2013

In the wake of brazillian market as the fourth country in the world in gaming market, and fifth in consoles alone(take that, random europe first world country), it's time to start track down this sales. The data is from GFK brasil, and is publish monthly by veja magazine. They only give us the ranks, not actuall sales off each game(like in UK), and monthly, not weekly. They realease some notes too, but i not this month, appeareantly. The numbers were around here for some time, but i tried to get a declaration from gfk about the official launch of PS4, X1 and WiiU, but so far nothing. So, don't expect them to start traciking next-gen for now. The numbers:

Last month(October): http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=174300&page=1

This month i don't find any data regarding how was november for gaming in brasil. It take less time that i expected to release the charts too, and with no comment on the next gen launch here, strange.

In brazil, retaliers are trying to do black friday here too, in the same day as USA, even if we don't have nothing like thanksgiving holiday around here. Since the not actualy make a clearance to prepare for crhistmas, what we actually ahve are super inflated prices tha then suffer a "discount" of 80% 2 days before the event. Yet, some times at some places they make some discounts in some games. So it may ave  aimpact after all.

Interessing to see that we have a new entry on wii chart, and on first place, something very odd for it, actually.

Some of you can be wondering why the rank have so much old games, but in brasil a price set a major role when choosing a game. its really hard to find any new game here selling below $50. Have in mind that our minimun wage is about $330, and the average person have a wage off $1000.

I e-mail then on december 27, so maybe they just are on a holiday break. If we have more information later, i will post.

so who leads the sales around there? is there any estimation you can make for us on units sold?

Looks like Playstation exclusives are doing well down there. Also, it seems Brazil has a fair number of casual gamers still.

Brazil is a big country but such a small market.

The xbox 360 lead the market share till august, them ps3 surpassed(there was a price drop thanks to local production). Since october they stoped releasing notes, so its hard to make estimations.

But have in mind that the fact we are moving more money on the market than UK, this don't mean that we are actually selling more. I'm not sure how much cost a new game on uk, but i will go with 50€, ok? Well, a new game on brasil can cost near more than 80€. So, in fact, even if a game sold here 2/3 of what that sold in uk, we are still moving more money, therefore, our market is "bigger", even if the companies are actually profiting more in UK.

We are not poor, we just have a really bad income distribuition. Rich are very riches and poor are very poor.
