If the Wii U hasn't reached 10 million sold by the end of 2014, if MK8 fails to sell 3 million and fails to move units, if SSB fails to sell 2 million and fails to move units and if games like Yarn Yoshi, Bayonetta 2, DKTF etc. sell under 500k each. Otherwise it still has hope.

Wii U needs to reach 14m by the end of 2014 to have a chance... (hint... those are gamecube level sales).

So it needs to sell 9 million this year just to hit GC levels??? Yowzers!!!

It is the current 8th generation leader you know.... I wonder about XBone, with PS4 going great guns and nil Microsoft support in Japan what's the point of no return for them? Will they sell more than the original Xbox?

Ive seen enough from Sept- Jan sales to see that the Wii U is gathering some sort of momentum. The first half of 2013 was woeful and i can see Wii U beating out those sales in 2014. The base numbers will be better , Japan seem to be catching on and North America has always been ok. That just leaves Europe if Nintendo can find a way to increase sales there things will be fine...not generation winning fine, but fine all the same.

Its got a 1.xx mil lead after being in the market alone for a year. It wont be the leader for long. They arent in trouble yet... the point of no return is past being in trouble... yes, both will sell more than the original xbox. Wii U wont

hmmmm what?
never. it will have the usual 5 year lifespan as every other Nintendo home console.
Whats your point? or are you only trying to downplay WiiU for the sake of it?

Sadly, it might just be past that point.

Although I have come to accept that, it is still incredibly bitter to see Sony fans celebrating it like some kind of achievement.

I'm a Sony fan and I own a Wii U so why would I want the Wii U to fail??? I want Nintendo to support the WiiU till the end and release quality titles like they have been for many years and that's only going to happen if it succeeds.

The only reason why I believe that some Sony fans celebrate it as an achievement is because some Nintendo fans were constantly attacking the Vita and it's poor sales and celebrating THAT as an achievement.

The whole thing is a double edged sword. For instance, Sony is doing well in the console market but horrible at the handheld market, for Nintendo it's the other way round; doing brilliant in the handheld market and not so much in the console market.

its not even about wanting whoever to fail, I think the amount of people who want Ninty to fail and die and vice versa is very small. What people do like (or at least i like) is to serve people crow, and their is a lot to be served, especially in the case of Wii U

Hmmm? what's that about?

Did you read the OP? Stop thread whining just because it isn't Pro Nintendo.

The Wii U will not be discontinued until ATLEAST 2017. The Wii U has so many games this year that will boost sales incredibly. Wii Fit U, DKC:TF, Mario Kart 8, SSBU, Hyrule Warriors, X, Bayonetta 2, Hyrule Warriors, Watch Dogs, Project Cars, and other unannounced games.

how will watch dogs improve wiiu sales when it's also out on every other console? COD Ghosts and ACIV didn't boost WiiU numbers.

and guess which version of watchdogs, ISNT on the preorder list?

OT i picked other because people will believe what they want and keep moving goalposts. The new thing is well 2013 was a weak year, funny no one was saying that in 2012. Lego City, Rayman, Sonic, Mario, Pikmin, W101 were all supposed to be big guns.
