If Nintendo didnt support their best selling console for longer than 4 years and released a new console in 6 what makes you think thwy wont drop their worst selling console faster? If Wii U doesnt reach 14m by the end of year then that means no one wants flat out and no price drop or game will help

@Your question: It's Nintendo. They might have a new system released but will keep selling the Wii U until it's milked for what it's worth. They will eventually drop the price to $150 probably before discontinuing it.

@Your sentence: That's just untrue. Every price drop and big game will help to some extent.

If they don't want the gamepad and Mario at $300, they don't want it at $200 either. It's in the range where if the masses wanted it they would buy it. Heck Wii would have sold gangbusters at $400.

People rage on about $199 but really, people have more disposable cash than that. Look at the $$$ people put down on tablets.

It's all about the consumers perceived value. The Wii was something fresh & cool so it would've sold well with a higher price. Tablets are seen as all in one devices and are seen as worth it. The Wii U isn't seen as a good deal at the moment. $300 for a console, Gamepad, and some Mario? Nope. $200 for a console, Gamepad, Mario, Mario Kart, DK, SSB, and Zelda? Maybe. The value is now better. A potential cool add-on could up the value too.

Wii U won't sell like Hotcakes but it should pass GC fairly easy.

That is why I was soo happy when I saw a video of a new Nintendo advert that actually pointed out it's got a really good browser and its own social network - and why I feel Mii-Verse on the 3DS is such a good thing for Wii-U.

Nintendo needs to push themselves forward as being a GamingPlus machine and give people a sense of identity tied to their Nintendo systems.

Well there's at least three big releases slated for the first half this year, along with the likely announcement of Zelda U. If the things that are coming out or being announced this year aren't enough to at least double the user base, then nothing can push the U...

If Nintendo can't salvage the Wii U with top rate software, what hope do they have to push a future console.

WiiU Fit isn't huge until it proves itself, DK, what else? MK is 'spring'.

I didn't really mention or consider WiiU Fit, because I view that more as a gimmick or a fad. I also think that the audience that made Wii Fit successful does not exist on the Wii U.

To an extent. I never said Wii U would sell crazy good but it should pass the GC with little issue.

bottom line to me is, the Wii U has a perceived value of less than $300 at the moment. Big game releases and future price drops will both help this issue.

IF MK8 fails, Wii U will be doomed. No question.

Is MK even that important now?

For me it's never been as good as the SNES original.  If MK8 changes the fate of Wii U you can call me surprised.

Ah sorry, thought you said Q1. Well I doubt Smash is first half, if it is Nintendo don't have a clue, they need to save it for the fall.

No it won't. Not to the majority of people it won't. People love Nintendo games, but if the machine doesn't have the biggest third party games like GTA or Madden? Not going to cut it.

If Nintendo wants to improve sales, it needs to be $199.99. Even then, it won't do much better than GC.

If $100 price drop doesnt get people to buy your consolen, than its time to hang it up!

the point of no return was like 6 weeks ago when PS4/X1 were released

We were discussing if it can pass GC sales. GC didn't have much 3rd party support either so the 3rd party point doesn't mean anything. You go on to say that a price drop would help so you more or less agree with me.
