Forums - Sony - The secret to success with Sony handhelds.

How about a vita phone that can play vita games/android games/ and ps4 games otg. Team up with sprint in the us and co market it showing off sprints unlimited data and vita's remote play feature. Then sony should sell an unlocked version for everyone who doesnt have sprint. Make it look sleek, give it a 720p oled screen and I could easily see this selling like hotcakes.

Vita is just trying to find her way, once she does it will be the best handeld.

Well, she is already but it may have games and sales too.

I don't get why they don't do a phone version of Vita and market the hell out of it. Given that phones are becoming huge now and have similar specs anyway. Make it Sony's flagship phone, put Android Kitkat on it alongside Livearea.

Sony could easily make a Vita the size of a Galaxy Note phone but with the PSP go design. But come with at least 32gb memory. Keep physical media obviously. A few android games have controller support now anyways, could really add to Vita's library

Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

Should be the other way around.. all Sony quad core+ phones should be Vita software compatible.. forget about making a Vita phone.. it would be outdated within a year.. make the Phones compatible with digital Vita software and make a special Dualshock that clips onto the phones..

and finally make the phones compatible with Gaikai... Yes that's sleeping dogs on an xperia through onlive

Thing is, adults hardly ever buy handhelds, especially now getting a gaming laptop is so cheap. So a big chunk of the hardcore market is lost simply because is a handheld.

I think they should have simply focused on the android with xperia GO like devices, the first was only a failure cause it had dated hardware.

By making a new android device phone handheld, with iteration every 2-3 years, they could be a major player on the phone business, leaving behind the competitioin with nintendo and focusing on building especifically made exclusive games for said sony phones.

Been out twice as long as Wii U. Barely above it in sales. Gonna have to write it off as a failure to keep the Nintendo had alive or you just look biased....Looks at OP... NM too late

NO! It needs everything. From JRPGs to shooters.
And it needs the attention of some of Sony's first party teams. Right now ps4 is getting all the attention.

Here's how I think Sony do well with their handheld. The Vita is much more powerful than the 3DS correct? Well it's already lost, there's nothing that can be done, but let's say Nintendo releases the 3DS 2 next year or a new variant of the 3DS, and it's the same exact power of the Vita, but has to use that power on two screens.

Who says Sony has to launch another portable? Just keep the Vita going for another generation. The install base will be there, or atleast more of an install base than just starting off. They just need to make sure they secure exclusives for the Vita for when the new portable comes out and tell consumers they're going to extend the life of the Vita.

The benefits would be

-10-30 million people who still own and use their Vita at the start of the new generation.
-Same power of the 3DS 2
-Cheaper, since they would have already made back all development costs and they're already using cheaper parts for it being older hardware.

I mean look at the PSP. Most of the games in Japan that release for the 3DS and Vita are also on the PSP.

I do notice that a lot of the Vita commercials I see are aimed at kids and families, and then very rarely I will see a call of duty advertisement for it. Which is bizarre because Nintendo has a strangle hold on the family market. Shouldn't Vita be focusing their marketing efforts on the young adults?

Sony is too indecisive with the Vita. I still don't know what it's trying to be. Is it a console on the go? A casual downloadable handheld system? Or a AAA game device that plays media? Who knows.

This sums up my entire beef with the VIta and Sony. The Vita has an identity issue. I personally want it to be an exclusive system, but that's not the case.
