Oh come on, Kaz Even stated in Public they are making cuts to area's to downscale the size of the overhead again you are going to sit there and still try to imply, that Sony will get rid of playstation? Having the Money to purchase is not the same as being able to do it, because A) the Toxic parts of Sony including in having to take on the excess of over 160,000+ Employees, Market cap. is one thing, again but it does not offer you the abiliuty to take on the EXPENSE OF THE lOGISTICS IN ORDER TO MOUNT A HOSTILE TAKE OVER OF SUCH A COMPANY THE SIZE OF SONY! If 40 straight years of these failures for such Hostile take over's show one thing its not such an easy task as what way you are trying to make it out to be. Again you just stated "PS4 is Sonys lat console regardless of its sucess" Again there was many times this very point was made about Sony and the PS3 DUE TO THE MONEY PROBLEMS SONY HAS HAD. Well sony had to sell off building's , yeah they did so they can buy yet another HQ for playstation in no other place but one of the most expensive places to buy into http://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2013/09/11/playstation-opens-giant-headquarters-in-silicon-valley-jack-tretton-this-was-the-jewel-we-had-our-eye-on-for-about-6-years/ yes they were going to spend into that knowing full well they are going to file to be Bankrupt in 2 years and not make playstations anymore after the PS4 is in really high demand? So your point is the only reason for Sony to be in game console's area has nothing to do with the investment that Sony put into to make a add on for Nintendo and Nintendo decided to say "were going with someone else" after Sony spent all that Money to make the Add on? and the Ceo said at the time to "Do it" make our own system.. So that was just trying to push Media right? So now with Sony investing More and More Money into playstation, means they do not care about Playstation part of the company and are not into it for being a Game company? Just because they make more than just game consoles does not make them anyless of a core game company than Nintendo, or is it "just " Nintendo is the one who sets the bar for the Game industry for Game console's? |
Im not implying anything. Im simply saying how I think the future looks for Sony. I dont think just a games console is enough down the line. And Sony arnt positioned in that way. Worse is Nintendos console future. Playstation may stil be around. But it woulld not be in a console style I believe. I halfexpect the next box to be built into TV's as part of OS running the TV and playing downloaded games to inbuilt HDD or external storage.
law of probability says sony, nintendo or microsoft all have a 50 50 chance of going bankrupt at any given time.

yes you are implying ; you just stated that the "PS4 would be the last Console Sony produces no matter how well it does in the end".
"I halfexpect the next box to be built into TV's as part of OS running the TV and playing downloaded games to inbuilt HDD or external storage."
In other words: making it for other companies TV set's IE: no playstation console! so what you are again trying to imply that Sony is going to stop production on console's when there is a market sale through of upto 150 million console sales in a 10 year time, and you think the reduction of the console market sale through could not support more console's? I noticed you talked about Nintendo, would they also have to give up Console production? or How about Microsoft ? would they also have to give up console production also?
Again your trying to point out the bind that Sony is in, based on just the money they have on Market Cap. but the very simple fact Sony is looking to down scale parts of the company but the blunt truth of the fact is Sony is investing more into playstation Physical assets instead of less investment.

Bull never will happen.ms can go bankrupt also
VITA 32 GIG CARD.250 GIG SLIM & 160 GIG PHAT PS3
If Sony does go bankrupt it would be a shame to see the PS brand sold off to another media corporation such as Disney and so forth. It would be the beginning of the end for PlayStation. Unfortunately Sony is not in a good position financially and I can see something like this happening down the track.

I do not agree, for the simple fact that kaz
only listed playstation, smartdevices, and software and services as the three main Pillar's. the very fact they are buying into more mobile chip production and divesting themselves of ties to main investment's into TV's, Shows more than anything Sony may in fact cut more and more to TV and not large reductions to the three pillar's. If anything as i pointed out they purchased a new HQ for Playstation, but sold off another...you do not spend thar kind of money into a area you intend to sell off. Esp. one of which that Kaz and the board or directors told and stated to an investor who hold's over 6% of Sony that.
"The entertainment businesses are important contributors to Sony's growth and are not for sale," wrote Hirai in Sony's statement."
I think that unless Dan Lobe could get more japanese investors to pressure that the current head of Sony , which is Kaz to step down its very unlikely a Hedge fund Head like Mr Lobe, will ever have a chance to do so, because the japanese see them as vultures. And despite all his money and the way the US companies look at it as "just business" the culture of japan in business when it comes to foreign hedge funds or foreign company buy ins still are viewed not in the best of light.
26 Sep 2013
There are only a handful of home-grown hedge funds in Japan but changes to the rules for asset managers last year have made it easier to launch an investment management business. However, significant barriers to entry remain in the country.
Again:
American activist investors have, however, met with frustration in the efforts to add value at other companies. T. Boone Pickens, who acquired a minority stake in the auto parts company Koito Manufacturing in 1989, pressed its management for better dividends and a seat on its board. But the little manufacturer dug in its heels. Shareholders heckled him with anti-American taunts at its annual shareholders meeting; the press branded him an opportunistic vulture. Koito’s president refused even to meet the Texan magnate.
“O.K., Koito; I give up,” Mr. Pickens declared in an editorial two contentious years later, before selling his entire stake. “The heck with Japanese business.”
Again:
"The entertainment businesses are important contributors to Sony's growth and are not for sale," wrote Hirai in Sony's statement."
does that sound like Sony would sell off playstation to you?
many keep saying Sony will have no other choice, but the choice of cutting every thing like a major investment into TV production, which is by far has been stated that TV's are no longer a pillar @ Sony by Kaz!

He has 26% of that company Even @ 26% he was as you can see, not Happy with the outcome, With Sony i Epect the same.

By the way I heard the employment for life has been decreasing year by year. I could swear I read that from associate press. |
Define move them over to different markets and expand by other markets. You mean, transfer employees to different parts of the company?
Probably... but not sure what having a bunch of TV engineers over in the entertainment section will acomplish.
As for it decreasing year by year....
It has been... because companies have been going bankrupt in Japan... and Japanese workers have jumped ship from companies that seem to only be servicing debt when they got better options elsewhere and newer companies are relaxing hiring contracts.
None of that really applies to Sony.
You pretty much either need to stay pat, and hope your profitable or offer expensive buyouts like so
and as an example of how hard it is to offload assets when your troubled for cash...

Hasn't Sony been publishing balances with losses from three years in a row?.....

Has no-one noticed that the article the OP posted was dated November 2012. That would mean Sony has only 10 months left... yeah, I doubt it somehow.
