I just joined club Nintendo and have been redeeming code for a while, I got to platinum and nothing really happened, I mean do you actually get anything for getting gold or platinum?  

Yeah, you'll get to choose a free prize at the end of the fiscal year. Platinum gets you the best prizes of course. I was gold this past fiscal year and got SSB on the Wii VC.

You also get coins for registering games and doing surveys, and those net you free swag throughout the year as well.

When's the end of the fiscal year?  Also I stopped redeeming points at 610, just enough to get platinum, but I still got a lot of games to go and my systems, should I just stop now and redeem them at the start of the next fiscal year for another platinum?

The Nintendonian year ends July 31st. They'll send you an email saying you have enough coins to get a prize, but you actually have to sign on and claim it. Otherwise you get nothing.

I redeemed my Wii U games and a few 3DS ones, do u know if the Wii/DS games are worth less points as time goes by?  I was thinking of waiting to redeem the rest of my games to get platinum in the next fiscal year.

Ends in July, according to the Club Nintendo site. Then sometime in the fall, you'll get an email letting you know the deadline to pick your free prize. I can't remember when it was this year, but it was somewhere around September and October.

To be specific, no. Just like how Ninty is too stubborn to lower prices on NES/SNES games like they really should, the coin price for the games on the site stay the same too. If you decide not to download a game or miss the deadline, don't fret too much either; they recycle them every few months. Right now they have the Japanese SMB2 available, and this is not the first or second time they've made it available through Club Nintendo.

But yes, you are already doing the clever thing by waiting to register the rest of your games until the next fiscal year. I forgot to tell you not to do it all at once in my OP, but you're ahead of the game.

Also, I don't know how it works on the DS/3DS, but for console downloads, those are actually for download on the Wii VC. Meaning you have to go into Wii mode to redeem the code and you'll need a Wiimote/Classic Controller to play them, and you won't get save states either (just one suspend point).

Nintendo's fiscal year, like that of many Japanese companies, starts on April 1st. But Club Nintendo's annual cycle starts 3 months later on July 1st. I'm not sure why people often call this a "fiscal" year, unless they're imagining a Nintendo coin-based economy.

Also, although you choose your gift in July it tends not to arrive until much later into the (calendar) year.

Yes, I was referring to Club Nintendo's fiscal year for us consumers, not the entire company. And I'm not imagining a coin-based economy. You buy games and register them with Club Nintendo, you get virtual coins. You fill out surveys on those games, you get virtual coins. You can use these coins to get free swag, but they expire by a certain date. Thanks for correcting something that didn't need correction.

And if you choose a digital gift, you get the code right away.
