Forums - Gaming - Who here still enjoying their next gen purchases?

battlefield 4 on P.S.4 is awesome, also by having ps+ your spoilt with games

another point is, games in CEX have plummeted in price so I've gone around picking up P.S.3 titles cheap

so il still be using P.S.3, I expect Xbox1 owners to be in same boat

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

Even as someone who is going to buy a PS4 in a few months, its 2014 line-up is well and truly "meh".

Probably too late to start announcing games now, will just have to hope for earlier release dates than expected.

Yeah, I'm with you.  I'm planning on buying a PS4 (or an Xbox One--the possiblity still exists) and the only games I want on either are games I'll be able to buy anyway--a re-releas of this year's Tomb Raider or Metal Gear Solid V.  Not exactly worth paying $400-$500+ for.  Watch Dogs, maybe?  I've kinda hyped myself for the Wii U version, tbh.  Everything else just doesn't do it for me.

My problem is a lack of willpower.  Luckily, I just found out that I'll be on a month long business trip starting January 6th.  Maybe that will stop me from spending money I don't really need to spend.

That doesn't really bother me. I'll be getting a PS4 in the future, and there isn't likely to be a price cut soon. I don't mind tiding myself over with 1080p / 60fps cross-gen multiplat games until the heavy hitters come in 2015.

I'm having lots of fun with my Wii U. I just finished Deus Ex: HR director's cut and bought AC4 yesterday on sale.

I'm also playing Bravely Default on my 3DS :). A pure joy to play.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

Do Vita and 3DS count? I know they've been out for a while but they are next gen too. If so yes i love them both, playing Vita more at the moment though.

Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

Me! One month with the Xbox One: I loved Dead Rising 3, finished already and I am loving Assassin´s Creed 4, the best on the series, so much fun to be a pirate, I have 20h of gameplay and only 5 history missions, I am avoiding them like the plague because I do not want the game to end, it is that good!
AC on last gen was so clunky and weird, it is so smooth on the next gen console, really fun and very small loading times.
Battlefield 4 is mindless fun and so is Forza 5. The crazy stuff is really Xbox Fitness, really amazing workout sessions with that.
I loved the controler as well, bought some recheargeable batteries and each pair lasts around 12 hours of gameplay.
Really cool console and the next gen games are great, and they can only be better.

what ? 2014 a bad year?

watch dogs
metal gear
thief
second son
the order
the witcher 3
dragon age 3
destiny
driveclub

if this is a bad year i dont know what a good year can be xD

That's what I've been preaching all along. Everyone is talking about how great the lineup for the WiiU is and how the PS4 and X1 will have a massive drop in sales. Everyone seems to forget that there will be a constant stream of great titles this year.

 You could also add

Child of Light
The Crew
Daylight
Dynasty Warriors 8
The Evil Within
Mad Max
Natural Doctrine
Sleeping Dogs: Triad Wars
The Devision
Transistor
Wolfenstein
TES Online
Dying Light
FFXV

Sure, some of those could be delayed until 2015 but there is something in there for everyone.

That's exactly what I was trying to say to that Roma guy on pg 8. Some people are just stubborn though.

I went to YouTube to view some PS4 and Xbox one gameplay, and as I view some, I also came across a numerous of videos stating that their bored of next gen consoles. Not only because of there not much games out at the moment, but their also not excited for the upcoming games to. Of course, opinions can change once more "must have games release" but it feels like this console launch along with the Wii U have been meh experience compare to other launches.

How so? The older gen launches were a lot worse than this gen' s launch by a long shot. With that said, the "new" feeling has begun to wain quite a bit for me and I'm only mildly excited for Infamous and Watchdogs so far. That'll probably change when E3 comes around and we get more game announcements.

I'm going to have to ape this sentiment. This is coming from someone who's played through EVERY game console generation launch.

When I think back to the games that I initially played on each console (when purchased near or upon release), there are far too many stinkers that I couldn't be paid to play had they been released later in the generation.

When I look back upon the 8th gen in 5-6 years and I think Killzone SF was the equivalent of Resistance, or that Battlefield 4 or Assassin's Creed 4 were games that weren't worth playing on account of being games one buys just to have something to play on a new console, will be the only time I'll be able to believe otherwise. I'm fairly certain I'll still be playing the occasional games of Resogun years from now. I still find myself playing the occasional game of Super Stardust HD (same game studio) and that was my first PSN Store purchase back in early 2007.

The only thing the 8th gen has going against it is the fact that many of the best titles available on their respective platforms aren't just multiplatform games, they're multigenerational games (available on last gen hardware). But that doesn't make them worse games, it just means a new console isn't required to play them if the technicals of playing on better hardware with improved visuals aren't worth the extra cost of switching platforms.
