Forums - Gaming - Xbox One and PS4 have misserable sells???

Wii-U goal was to sell approx 9 million consoles in year one, which ends in I think April. It's currently at 4.5 million.
Now the Wii-U as we know has and has had available units all year round. If you wanted one, you could have walked into a store and pick one up. Yet they are at 4.5 million.

The Ps4 was released on November 15 2013 and is sitting at 2.4 million units sold. That's a lil over 1 month on the market. And as we all know, you cannot walk into a store and pick one up. Its heavily supply constraint. They come in stock, they sell out.
If the ps4 had stock readily available, it would have surpassed the Wii-U already. Fact is, come April, the ps4 will have already surpassed the Wii-U in total sales.
My thoughts, the Wii-U is selling well now due to it being Xmas time, from next week on, the sales will dip back to the around 55k a week.

I think the PS4/X1 are supply constrained a bit, yes.  But I think the Wii U sales are also starting to pick up due to deals around the holidays (300 plus some gift cards, etc.).  Hopefully Nintendo continues this trend.

Well yes in a way.

This is a pretty weak holiday for consoles globally - trending below 2007-2012 even excluding PS2.

Dec 15 2007 - 1.78m consoles sold (more with PS2 - probably 2.2m)

Dec 13 2008 - 2.45m consoles sold (more with PS2 - probably 2.7m)

Dec 12 2009 - 2.65m consoles sold

Dec 11 2010 - 2.68m consoles sold

Dec 17 2011 - 2.63m consoles sold

Dec 15 2012 - 1.98m consoles sold

Dec 14 2013 - 1.68m consoles sold

At this rate the PS4 will never sell 4 million till 31th december, doen´t make sense, everyone wanted one and now nobody is buying them =/

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

The (SALES) of Xbox (O)ne and PS4 are like Wii U and everyone says Wii U (W)as not (AS) good sellings (AS) the ohter two!

What (CAN) (WE) believe?

Wow, seven mistakes in a one sentance OP, that must be like some kind of record.

OT:  The difference in the current sales is that the Wii U is available everywhere, while the PS4 is almost entirely soldout, & you can't sell what you don't have, yet the hard to find PS4 is still outselling Wii U even though it's instock everywhere.  The Xbone  also seems to be moving units steadily to a percentage of it's established userbase, but demand there does seem soft as well when compared to the PS4.

Thanks, I was waiting for someone to do this comparison. I don't think as many conoles have ever been on the market at the same time as in 2013.

It will be interesting to see how the christmas week pans out but I am thinking it will follow this pattern. Stock can a affect the PS4 WW and maybe the xbone in NAmerica (not Europe).

Someone got ridiculed by the "know-it-alls" when he or she predicted that this will be the case. 2014 is going to surprise a lot of people.

What part of supply constraint are you not understanding?

They're sold out everywhere; new supply from the factory trickles out and is promptly sold.

The only reason the PS4 wouldn't sell 4 million by the end of 2013 is because SCE didn't ship 4 million for consumers to buy.

PS4 is truely sold out everywhere so i dont think Sony should be worried at all yet. Xbone on the other hand is going to have some serious issues come next year. They are easy to find now and they are barely outselling the Wii U. Considering that Nintendos lineup next year is going to be awesome and PS4 is still in very high demand, I wouldnt be shocked if Xbone was left in the dust next year like PS3 was early on. Microsoft could still make a comeback but they have to drop the mandatory Kinect and make the console $350 without it. if they are stubborn then Nintendo and Sony are going to be the only 2 consoles selling great this gen, and the lineups are so different that I could see both doing great.
