Ugh....Yuji Naka is highly overrated. He wasn't even the sole creator of Sonic and was least responsible for how good the older games were. I'm tired of this getting credit for something he really didn't do.

He was the brains behind NiGHTS, was he not? That skill would be more applicable to a game like Rodea.

Thats what he is talking about. Short answer is no, the ideya for a character that soars through the sky in opposite to Sonic can from Iizuka. He(as lead game designer, concept script writer)Oshima(Director, lead artist), and Naka(lead Programmer) worked together to bing everything together

With the PS Vita, they focus on everything except polygons, so a lot of Vita games have as little as 7 million polygons, but look good, like Ironfall. Vita developers, know they need to spend a lot of time on everything else because of PlayStations reputation for good looking graphics, excluding Final Fantasy 13 which has more then 300 million polygons, but look like crap.

With the 3DS they spend more time on Polygons, but not on everything else, so you get graphics like Batman Arkham Origins Balckgate, which is similar to Final Fantasy 13, where you have the polygons, but the graphics don't look so great. There are cases of 3DS games being work on in everyway, like Sonic Generations & Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D & Lego City Undercover (remember it's really open world, which is the opposite of God of War) & Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon & spider-man edge of time (check out 360/3DS comparison) &Resident Evil Revelations (check out 360/3DS comparison), and Vita games being develop in everyway, like Uncharted Golden Abyss.

Anyways, Devs like Square-Enix tend to just add polygons.

Plus Nintendo doesn't have a reputation for graphics, so developers can do only some work across the board.

A lot of the Vita games released now, were intended to be release within the first year. Any new Vita game from now on will take longer in development, like all the FutureLab games coming to the Vita.

It took 300 Devs 3 1/2 years to add over 300 million polygons, but Handheld Devs don't have that many people to add over 130 million polygons, which is why Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate took over 3 years to develop on the Vita.

I'm pretty sure FF XIII looks decent for the most part.

How do you know that developers spend more time with the polygons on the 3DS ? Everything on the 3DS looks low poly as hell.

How do you know that square enix only spends most of it's time on sub division of polygons ?

Nintendo isn't known for graphics mainly because they decide not to be competitive on that front.

Prove to me that the games on the vita were intended to release on it's first year. Last time I checked I didn't hear of any delays for vita games other than rayman legends.

It only took that long because square was dumb about management practices not because of some issues with subdivision of models.

Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate on 3DS is more then 130 million polygons, while Ironfall is 7 million polygons. The Devs have cover these games graphics knowledge.

Games that look good on 3DS:

Sonic Generations

Castlevania Lords of Shadow Mirror of Fate

Kid Icarus: Uprising

Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D

Nano assault Ex

Zelda A Link Between Worlds (the solid objects are polygons, but less solid objects are cell-shaded, but they all look good)

Jett Rocket 2

There are some others too, and I suspect Jett Rocket 2 & Nano Assault EX are low polygons, like no more then 50 million polygons, and that's probably being generous.

Games from Capcom & Nintendo tend to be high polygon, but games from Sega tend to be rush in everyway like such 3DS games as Thor & Shinobi & Sonic Racing Transformed.

Its not easy to tell which are high polygons and which are low polygons, but with a minimum of 10 million polygons any game on the 360 can look like they had everything done.

Its not easy telling which games have high and low polygons, even on the 360 & PS3. I guess if it takes several years or at least 1 year for a Handheld game to be made, then we can safely assume, when Devs don't folk over the info.

Well damn, how the hell did I not see this two years ago? This looks fantastic! Thanks for posting this. If the Wii version has in fact been done for a long time now, I hope they're making good use of the extra time while the 3DS version is finished to make a Wii U version. I imagine they could use the Wii controls for the Wiimote while also offering something like the 3DS controls on the gamepad. Wii U could use the support of a new IP like this.
