Apples to Oranges. Completely different game genres.

As far as i know War3 was not a very popular esports game as it had multiple balance issues. A better comparison would be starcraft 2 vs LoL/Dota 2.

In that case both games, at the highest level, have their complexities. Mobas require team synergy and cohesion whereas normal RTS games rely more on 1v1 for serious competition. One is more a team game the other a solo game.

Really hard to compare.

If that was a comparison I would say SC2 without a shadow of a doubt :O

MOBAs require quick thinking and tactics, though. But micromanaging dozens of units simply takes more strategy.

At the highest level ie. The International and tournaments like that the skill level required for MOBA's is crazy. Likewise for Starcraft. Micromanagement seems tough but its something you get use to if you play regularly. Playing some heroes in dota 2 also require insane micromanagement like junglers and invoker

If we are talking specifically about War 3 then i would say their isnt much strategy required. Not in the single player or multi. The game was notoriously unbalanced especially in multi.

LoL is just more accessible than warcraft 3. You get the basic in 30 minutes, but still need years to master.

There are as complex on high level, just LoL being accessible on lower level.

(Despite LoL having no macro, it has a more complex micro strategy with escapes, timings etc)

I always thought LoL was the real successor to DoTA, not DoTA 2. The animation is more reminiscent and some of the original DoTA people work for Riot. And wasn't Blizzard pissed with Valve taking the DoTA name?
