Threat of death would usually persuade people to give up their faith. Such was the case with many people in decades and centuries past... I remember that one story where in a group of evengelists who ended up in Japan or something were forst to give up their faith in Jesus/God and were asked to walk over the cross that was the symble of the faith. If I remember correctly, many of those so called enangelists ended up walking over the cross while some who truely believed ended up dead.

Love of ones life usually trumps ones faith...like St. Peter... Jesus said that Peter would deny knowing him 3 times, and Peter said that it wasn't true and that he would die for Jesus...well, according to the bible, Peter did end up denying that he knew Jesus 3 times for fear for his own life... Of course, we all know that He did end up being the first Pope and got crussified too..

Here on the forum I can say no, but if someone was standing right next to me with 10 million bucks it would be a totally different situation... Anyway I hope I would be able to say no.

This much people actually believes Jesus? Oh, come the fuck on! Science can prove that that God is not real. Evolution is. I don´t believe how you people can believe some 2000 year old book, that anyone could have wrote.

I have been a Catholic since birth and have believed in Jesus and the Holy trinity for that matter for 36 years. Even with all the development and advancement in science, as well as extensive findings regarding evolution, there is and I believe that there will always be this nagging feeling in me telling me that there is indeed a God and that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life...

With that said, 10 million dollars (US) is really a lot of money. It'll probably be enough to give me, my son and daughter and their sons and daughters a good life for the rest of their lives... As a Catholic and as a Christian, would I give up my faith in Jesus for 10 million dollars (US)? hell no. But as a father who wants the best for his family? It is very very tempting...

In the end, it all comes down to what is most important to you.. I am not being a hypocrit or a saint, but if given that choice, 90% of me will indeed consider giving up my faith and accepting eternal damnation if it means that my family and their would be family will have a good life, I believe that many people who really love their family will also think the same. 10% of me will still, however, always keep saying that nothing is worth giving up ones faith for.. its a small percentage, but that is the nagging feeling that as I said earlier, will always be there nagging me.

If you're saying you would take the 10 million and give some to the poor/charity instead of having a blind faith in some vague figure then you are a great man in my book.

If "God" exists (I'm a buddhist Agnostic) I'm sure he will take those who are actively helping and contributing to society and the poor over those people going to churches/praying than doing something to help out the needy. 

Faith shouldn't be a measure of what a "great" person you are, your actions should. 

I guess someone owes me $10 million then, since i never believed in Jesus to begin with. If i gained that much money I'd probably give away most of it to charity since i wouldn't need that much money anyway
