Do you realise Corrine worked at Gearbox before? Interestingly Gearbox have never had a uber oh my god Graphical game.

When Halo 5 blows Killzone Shadowfall away in visuals and scale, I'll remeber this conversation.

I might ask Corrine how she made Brothers In arms HH the best visuals in the world. That game which she designed blew the hell out of Uncharted 2.

Also selnor Yu has worked for Microsoft since 2008 so her being at gearbox is irrelevent she did enough for halo to prove her worth. 

Lets do some comparing shall we

PS4 Graphical Powerhouses:

Infamous 2nd son: Open world, 1080p, amazing physics for an open world game, unrivaled particle effects, amazing animations. 

Order 1886: Most likely linear but the effects they are producing in the game (Better than e3 trailer) looks better than anything iv'e seen in the 30 seconds of quantum break.

QD e3 demo: Best animations in the history of gaming. Was all real time running at 1080p between 30-90fps unoptimized. 

So far I have compared open world to linear and linear to linear. No hypocracy on my part there.

I never said he was. You said I did. I said he was the most influential person at 343i. What he says and who is there is his call.

Right on Corrine Yu.

She is the creator of Brothers In arms ( Never won any graphics awards ) And Borderlands ( Again same thing ). Yeah she joined icrosoft in 2008. But in case you didnt know this she chose to modify the Halo Reach engine. Instead of build new from ground up. Imagine what was possible with an entire new engine. Well thankfully we will know with Halo 5.

Corrine is talented. But she has nver won an award for best graphics on her games before Halo 4. Ironically 343i is Microsofts most funded team and contains their best develpers.

Hell Naughty Dog back with Uncharted 1 beat Corrines 3d engines for Brothers In Arms Hells Highway and Borderlnds. You are putting to much emphasis on this girl who has been beat by Naughty Dog, Epic, Crytek Konami all for the first half of the generation.

Other people at 343i are responsible for Halo 4's awards based on her first half of the gen at Gearbox.

I am missing the words naughty dog, epic, and crytek in the list of developers I posted. Good job at the straight up lying that you are doing now. Also besides id devs none of the devs from the former studios have anything to do with graphics. Isn't that what we are discussing or have we changed the topic to fit your agenda?

Corrinne Yu - Principal Engine Programmer on Halo 4 

She had the biggest hand in halo's graphics. It's cause of her halo 4 looked as good as it did. MS even applied a patent for her lighting algorithm. 

Keep on laughing. I will be the one to laugh when I quote this thread when halo 5/Uncharted 4 come out and uncharted mauls halo 5 in the graphics department.



About the subject at hand...

I agree that's it is not very interesting to compare one i7 with a jaguar (how many cores or worse for i7, if one thread is used, what frequency the i7 is set? etc.)

But comparing PS4 with X1 is rather fair I think. They must have taken the same settings whether it would be: one core (thread), one whole usable CPU. Why would have they taken different settings between next gen?

So we can safely conclude that in this algorithm compression test, PS4 is slightly better. But because the jaguars are totally identical and that the test focuses on pure CPU's fpu and not bandwidth, we can conclude that PS4 CPU is stronger.

But why haven't we heard about such a significant overclocking it it was the case?

I still find those results surprising because I was convinced (as most people) that X1 had a stronger CPU. This would help to explain the significant advantage of PS4 with BF4 (when the game works of course) because devs said the game is heavy on the CPU. The 44% resolution advantage + 10fps advantage for PS4 is more easily explained now.
