Actually, according to the last year, the majority of gaming fans are blissfully unaware that the Wii U even exists.
I wouldn't call those people serious gaming fans.
So it's the "gamers" who are at fault and not Nintendo's marketing for the last year? Got it! It's that exact way of thinking that's got Nintendo in the shape they are in with the Wii U.
I never said that. Surely you can form a response to my post without creating a straw man?
It's not my job to open your eyes and break you free of the bubble you encased yourself in with the Wii U. If you can't see the reality of the Wii U yet then by all means stay in that bubble and play some more Zelda. Meanwhile, millions of "serious gaming fans" will be buying new consoles that are marketed correctly.

They put a 4 at the end of its name? I'm sold.
You really think it's about putting a 4 or "One" at the end of it's name? I realize I am fighting a losing battle here because Nintendo fans on this site will fight tooth and nail for their console and that's great. But no matter how big of a Nintendo fan anyone is, there's no denying the Big N dropped the ball on Wii U marketing this past year. To call people who didn't even know a Wii U exist not serious gamers is laughable. Nintendo came on Jimmy Fallon a year ago and had to correct him on the messaging because he said it was a Wii "add on" People can close their eyes to NPD numbers or ww sales numbers all they want but in 2013 Nintendo failed with the WIi U. Will they fail 2014? who knows. I hope not but we'll see.
Keep on attacking the "marketing" line I said people, good job! Your on a video game sales site people, take off the blinders...
