Forums - Gaming - In the Year 2050, will you still be...

Do you think you'll still be gaming when you're 60-80 years old?

In the year 2050 (or 40 years from now) do you think you will still be an avid gamer?

It means alot of us current gamers would be between 60-80 years old, grey haired and baldling, taking regular pee breaks and using a walking aid to get there.

Do you think at that time you'd still be gaming and teaching the new generation a thing or two with handing out regular beatings in online play?

A weird thought to think by then, all these old codgers could be playing CoD 50 and handing out a whooping to people our age now :P can you imagine playing your favorite fighting/shooting or any competitive game and getting your ass handed to you by an 80 year old?

well by then we will all have virtual sex machines like on demolition man so I guess you could call it gaming lol

As long as we are not living in some post apocalyptic world due to a World War 3, then I can see myself gaming still.

When you consider how games have progressed from 40 years ago to today, I dont see such an advanced step forward in 40 more years time :P

But hey, if its wishful thinking, im wishing right with you :D

I would most likely quit gaming by then.

I hope so.
People in elderly homes will be much more entertained than now I think.

Possibly yes.

Deus Ex (2000) - a game that pushes the boundaries of what the video game medium is capable of to a degree unmatched to this very day.

Playing games is a hobby, why would we stop? Most people who have hobbies continue in that hobby until certain life aspects may stop them, for gaming, all i can think that would stop any of us is time and/or money. That's no different to any hobby.

Hmm, pie.

Haha, funny. This is of course based on the future having a rather smooth progression, which I think it won't.

However to play along I would say no. I would like to think that I would be able to spend my time doing charitable work and in my spare time learn a new language, maybe learn to play a musical instrument or such rather than unwind by playing games. I would like to think that in this case it would be a matter of "been there, done that".

Well that far into the future, controllers and peripherals will be obsolete, there will be a jack we are all wired to like the matrix. That way being an old fart with arthritis and other crappy things, I could still game, even in a adult diaper. lol
