Forums - Gaming - I don't think PS4 demand is as high as we are lead to believe.

so far I gather the following about the original poster:

- does not understand the term "trending price" [hint: it means average recent sale price of the product...should have been obvious...oh well, some people require explanations for obvious things...]

- cherry picks and thinks because he says he isn't cherry picking that it isn't cherry picking

- and generally has no point to make [should be banned for this IMO]

no he fucking shouldnt. are we not allowed to make theories anymore too? wtf is happening with these forums with all these users asking for people to get banned over the simplest things?!

Next year we'll know what the numbers are. Chances are high that the PS4's will be hard to come by until march of next year. I am thinking my numbers will be correct that Sony will hit 4-4.5 M by the end of the year and will hit six to eight million before summer.

Wal Mart's website for check in store availability has said PS4's were in stock for over half the locations around here since yesterday. (at least 8 or 10 stores showing green and 1 or 2 showing limited available). I live in a metro area in the west with about 1 million ppl.

Fits the rumours I've been hearing about Sony shipping a lot of PS4s this week to coincide with the "rest of the world" launch.

I think the rumor about them shipping a ton of them must be true.  If you go to the PS4 page on their site and just type in random U.S. cities they are now showing in stock for pretty much everywhere.  If you dudes are looking call your local WalMart....or check their site.

If that's true, then why have I yet 2 see a single ps4/xbox one on any store shelf. I go to walmart and bestbuy and gamestop all the time and have not seen any at all. seen plently of ps3's/xbox360's,wii u's. each time I ask about them, they always say the same thing. sold out, sold out, sold out. I'm not seriously trying to get a ps4 until next year, but your post is'nt constant with what I've been seeing first hand,in the okc. I'm sure there's plently of them in some states, but that has'nt been the case at all in the okc.

Yeah I definitely have not checked in person because I got one at BB on opening day, but I know up until 1.5 days ago, Walmart's site for my location listed all stores at sold out and now that is not the case anymore, and tons say "in stock" but yeah I have no idea if it is true.  I also wouldn't be surprised if they get some in in their truck bay, and then they sell in an hour, and the site doesn't update until a day later or something like that...

I do not think Sony will reach 4 million by the end of the year(3.5M is my estimate). I also think they will hit 6-8 million by the summer.

The PS4 has backed up demand until March, I believe. People who are lucky enough to get PS4's by the end of the year are reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeallly lucky. Its easier to find an Xbox One in a store than a PS4 and the Xbox One is already over 2 million in sales, which means the PS4 is probably very close to or over the 3 million mark.

Do not use Stock checkers as an indication of if there is stock... especially when you can work out some of the *last updated* stock updates was on Sunday when the stock was available again for sale. It's been said many times before, always check before going anywhere.

In terms of Ebay etc. Look Personally I've not used ebay in a couple of years because adding that, and paypal charges and the risk involved and postage, its becoming a total waste of time unless you can get way above the price. And guess what the people willing to pay those OTT prices are the hardcore, and today it's easier than ever to find out when stores are getting stock in and wait out in a queue.

The days of scalpers profiteering over a long period is dead and gone. First few weeks... yep, but prices will definitely start to drop as more stock comes in and that hardcore starts to get their consoles.

So really not sure what the OP is trying to say, what level of high demand are we talking about. It's a very difficult thing to quantify. Is stock selling quickly as it comes in, yes... do we know how much stock is coming in... nope. So kinda pointless.

As for these pre-order numbers... forum users did not announce those numbers, it was gamestop, so i don't know why people are criticising forums members for the 1.8m vs 400k numbers. These are from gamestop. Now even if they are wrong, they still tell a story of one console being more sort after than the other. It is antidotal evidence but anyone who says this isn't showing a picture is crazy :) Especially when people are stating that Ebay prices are telling a story.

Making an indie game : Dead of Day!

No PS4 at the Target and K-Mart in my area today. While there were a couple xbox ones at those stores. I am wondering if there is a chance Microsoft is manufacturing consoles quicker? Or maybe they are allocating more of them to the U.S.?

So a guy with an anti PS4 signature makes a negative post against thePS4 and people take said thread seriously?

And I got banned for taking shots against Xbone.... joked about being a bad idea buying a Xbone in the first place and hope that it would be right to sell afterwards... won't continue the rant to avoide a new ban.

Neither do I. I've seen plenty in stock at Targets, Walmarts, and Gamestops. Only place they didn't have it were sears. But I'm in NY so its a little different here I guess.

Man, Sears stores around here in North Texas have stopped selling game consoles for years and years. Fuck, I think I remember calling them looking for an X360 during launch and they'd already stopped selling consoles.

LoL. That explains it then. They've got to be heading out of business soon, they got great deals on TV's though!

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

The OP's logic is just as flawed as the logic of the users he's trying to counter. So what's the point of this thread?
