How many games have they had ?

Well that isn't good.

Well its popular enough in the for Namco to confirm western release on the same date that they announce the the actual next mainline Tales series so its gotta be getting back some of its bounce.

The 'Tales of' series is a great success story. The franchise has maintained (generally) quality and profitability for over 15 years now. It's always nice when a developer can do that.

Why?
Right now they are healthy and gain a lot of popularity.
Tales of was never a big thing in the western world or as big as Final Fantasy and some others but those Franchises  all died or lost their quality in the Last Gen.Tales of is one of the few survivors of the Console J-RPG Genre even though it was a close call after the Vesperia 360 fiasco.
Tales of even gained a lot of popularity in the Last Gen and got more well known to the western people who had to search for J-RPGs.
If Bamco wants to get the Franchise bigger they have now a chance and as it looks like they want to use this chance with actually bringing their games to us in the west and localize them pretty fast. They get even faster each time now.

@Graces Wii
Would have been a waste of time and resources
The game was buggy as hell and they released it next to FF13 in Japan. It was destined to fail.It was like Bamco wanted it to fail.
Probably like for Vesperia they planned all the time a PS3 Version. And if you bring a version you bring the one that is actually a lot prettier, has a lot less bugs and more content.
And after they have seen how good Vesperia on the PS3 did in Japan they pretty sure wanted some quick cash.Especially the costume DLC in those 2 games sold extremely well.

This game is just brinking on the verge of profitability. Bamco needs to figure out a way to make the franchise bigger or it's gonna die.

Great news for a great series. Now if only namco bandai would upgrade there gaming engine as the visuals are getting dated now, hopefully Zestiria will be the last to use that engine. Would really like to see a tales game with high quality visuals.

it's not gonna die cause it's profitable, that's how things work. It's been alive for ages and it will carry on for as long as it brings namco profit and that comes from not spending more making a game than you expect to make back in sales. why would they keep making and localizing if they werent making money?

Namco is the LEAST friendly company to bring over games they dont believe will make money.

So CoD:Ghosts beat the entire franchise in few weeks, deservedly so.

lmao. Based on what? This series has been alive for nearly 20 years and they keep making games. And Xillia is one of the best selling games in the series.

They need to sell more copies or else it's gonna go the way of guitar hero LOL. Or cut some development costs cause this ain't a big franchise.

lol. You say this for every RPG franchise. I'm pretty sure they know what they're doing. Guitar Hero sure as hell didn't last 20 years.

Except for western RPGs because I loved the shit out of fallout 3.
