Forums - Gaming Discussion - What do you guys think of those Cell phone watches?

Too expensive, not functional enough, not enough battery life

technology is not there yet and they look really stupid.

You forgot that they look really really really really stupid.

You will never get the amount of performance in a watch as you have in your phone, phones already have relatively strict TDP and power requirements, that's even more strict in a watch, however it shouldn't take long to reach a "good enough" level in both metrics.

I have a Galaxy Gear smart watch and I have just used it once. Got it as a freebie, so didn't pay for it. My honest opinion is that it's useless.

Cell phone watches? Frankly talking, phones these days are amazing enough for me to actually bother about one of these. However, the LG GD910 might interest you! Here is a video that demonstrates the features; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRD5qqX0iK0.

When I watch those tv commercials where it shows this guy's "smart watch" light up with a notification that someone's calling, and then he takes out his phone to answer, I just laugh every time. Exactly WHY does he need a watch to tell him what his phone is already telling him? lol

Imo, smart watches are one of the biggest scams ever.

The idea is super cool to me, actually. I want to wait for it to develop a bit and I'll get it down the line when it's more dynamic and functional.

Unless you are in some kind of profession where you have to wear pants without pockets or are James Bond or something, I don't honestly see the point.

Why fiddle around with a watch on your wrist, when you have a much more powerful phone in your pocket at all times that lets you browse the internet, social network, text, use apps, etc.

If you mountain climb all day or something, maybe I can see the point of it in that situation.

I personally wouldn’t mind owning any of these watches as long as my favourite games work on it! Numbs, a fun numbers game, which you can find at https://itunes.apple.com/app/id674456722 , is my preferred app right now and having it on a watch wouldn’t be bad! However, from what can be seen, most of these watches work on Android. Does that mean that all play.google.com apps will work on them? Moreover, from what I can see on http://www.3gwatches.com/ they are all quite dear, with the best ones at no less than $395!! The cheapest one I could find was at $40 on chinavasion.com but like me, you must surely be wondering how reliable this is?!
