To say that neither console is innovative is horseshit. To say that one is more than the other is debatable and really kinda pointless until 5 years down the road when all the plans both companies had are in place (minus the DRM policies of course). Fanboys will point out what their preferred platform is doing and either dismiss or downplay what the competition is bringing. The funny part is all this talk about innovation and who is doing what differently so quickly goes out the window when we see pretty graphics and learn of new gameplay mechanics that don't even utilize any of these supposedly stunning innovations or do so little with them that they are hardly worth mentioning. I am more often impressed by what game developers accomplish than what the console designers come up with.

Microsofts vision for gaming with the xbox one has been one of the biggest gaming failures ever. they did a complete reversal on its policies for a reason, it was a gigantic fail. funny how you comment on the xbox ones vision for gaming when they been working for months to make it more like the PS4's.

and please, dont get me started on Microsoft and their vision, as an hardware and entertaiment company they have been anything but visionary.

Both of you guys are being selective and incredibly biased.  Take a step back from the console wars and be a little more honest about the "whole" thing.

For everybody play what you like as always.  Enjoy your consoles and stop with the bs arguments

I would say that the X1 is more different compared with its predecessor so if by innivative you mean different than I would say X1. However as an overall design, the ps4 imo is much much better.

Everyone has different opinions. Some people think Wii U is innovative and Xbox One and PS4 are the same as PS360 but more powerful, some people call Wii U a last gen rip off and say the Xbox One and PS4 innovative and true next gen, etc.

Smartglass actually does 2 (perhaps 3) of the things you list separately for the PS4.

Why are the new buttons on the new one controller not innovative, but the ones on the PS4 are?

why isnt being able to store and utilise on an external HDD via usb 3 innovative

discussing the features of launch consoles is pointless, did you learn nothing from the launch of the xbox 360 and ps3?, compare the original xbox 360 blades revision to the current ui, compare the sparse xmb of a launch ps3 to its current offering.

With the new consoles reserving so much of their power and resources to the OS, you better believe we're in for some extensive updates and changes over the next several years.
