MS may be happy with that
But in no way can they be happy they are behind
As much as we all believe that Sony would dominate I doubt that MS ever had the same mindset. Being behind is never something to be happy about

I'm sorry, but that is fan mentality.
Businesses dont think that way really. It isnt about being happy or sad at being "behind" they have internal targets, measures and margins and those are all that matter.
Steve Jobs once said "Microsoft doesn't need to fail for Apple to succeed" to a noisy set of apple fanboys... he was booed, but he was right.
I remind my co-directors of this often, you dont need to "beat" the opposition or "crush" the opposition to be successful.

I would agree with you in most cases, but didn't Microsoft enter the market to win the livingroom?
|
I'm not sure that is at odds with what I said to be fair. Xbox is one part of that desire and no time scale was given.

I suppose that's true. But I still think that MS wanted more than just America/UK this time, and by the looks of it it's not going to happen. No matter the time scale, I think MS would like to see the Xbox selling more than PS. But I doubt they aren't happy with the current numbers anyways, cause they are great.
This is the article I was talking about. http://uk.ign.com/articles/2013/02/06/why-microsoft-got-into-the-console-business
