MS may be happy with that

But in no way can they be happy they are behind

As much as we all believe that Sony would dominate I doubt that MS ever had the same mindset. Being behind is never something to be happy about

I'm sorry, but that is fan mentality.

Businesses dont think that way really.  It isnt about being happy or sad at being "behind"  they have internal targets, measures and margins and those are all that matter.

Steve Jobs once said "Microsoft doesn't need to fail for Apple to succeed" to a noisy set of apple fanboys... he was booed, but he was right.

I remind my co-directors of this often, you dont need to "beat" the opposition or "crush" the opposition to be successful.

I would agree with you in most cases, but didn't Microsoft enter the market to win the livingroom?

I'm not sure that is at odds with what I said to be fair.  Xbox is one part of that desire and no time scale was given.

I suppose that's true. But I still think that MS wanted more than just America/UK this time, and by the looks of it it's not going to happen. No matter the time scale, I think MS would like to see the Xbox selling more than PS. But I doubt they aren't happy with the current numbers anyways, cause they are great.

This is the article I was talking about. http://uk.ign.com/articles/2013/02/06/why-microsoft-got-into-the-console-business

Interesting numbers. Both PS4 and XBONE still failing to meet demand. Slightly worse numbers than I expected

Im starting to think sony should have delayed Asia and moved those consoles to na and eu.

i agree with this.

ps3 - 101,327 + 124,992 + 23,108 = 312,833 ???

Wii U continues to disappoint me. Correct me if I'm wrong but this year is even worse than GameCube levels. Nintendo seriously needs to contemplate its strategy for home consoles, because there is something clearly wrong.

On a more positive note, 3DS seems to be doing great. And it passed the 40m mark! Awesome! :)

Plus rest of world sales that arent shown.

Its the same for all of them.

oh ok thanks for that

Artificial hype. The fanfare is dying. ps3 and xbo360 still averaging around 200k-300k weekly since the start of the holiday season. This is not a good sign. There won't be any gamee that would be considered worth buying the ps4 and xb1 for a long time. Wii U sold over 3m in 3 months and look what happened after that. Game drought that has sanked them. I stupidly purchased my xb1 day one from a preorder. I knew it would be a rush for it and i was one of the first to jump aboard. It was fun the first but for last few days i' have been catching up on my ps360 backlog and playing the hell out of 3dw on wii u. i am going to turn the xb1 back on this weekend thought even thought its not as fun as my 360. But glad i have it and not out there trying to find one. People don't rush out and buy something thats really not ready for the market, the games will eventually come. But after xmas the hype WILL die.

I really expected this because the XBox One and the PlayStation 4 are still popular because they are new compared to the Nintendo Wii U, what really matters are the sales in a few months when the hype is over about the XBox One and PlayStation 4!!!

Last year, this exact line was used as an explanation for WiiU being outsold by PS360 during the holidays.

Last year, the PS3 and 360 each sold over 550k globally the first week of December.

Wow nintendo have really captured magic With those 3ds sales, what can we expect lifetime sales to be for 3ds any guesses,

Some people around here will have you believe that the 3DS won't make it to 80 million. Others would insist that it will surpass even the DS, exceeding 160 million.

Both of those groups are nuts. It will land in the 100-130 range when all is said and done.
