Actually, they were technically wrong 6 months. The last two times we got quartly shipments VGchartz was closer.

Whether or not NPD was wrong jsut 2 out of 6 months or all 6 months we don't know sicne they don't release updated numbers to non paying customers. We don't even get the adjustments they do since we don't pay them.

A 6th month trend if fairly significant. I've got a feeling NPD has a team working on adjusting their formula harder then normal.

I mean according to them VGC guesses.  So to have your formula beat by guesses 6 months straight... you need a new formula.

Still I'd guess they were right thing time and some data just got polluted.

 Actually I don't mind that PS3 sold well in Janurary, in fact I wasn't even talking about PS3 sales, only thing that is a concern to me is the disparity between NPD DS figures and VGC DS figures, although I admit I have a VGC bias and support their figures over NPD

This thread has been going on for some time now, I bet if we checked the thread from last month on this, it wasn't nearly as long, as the PS3 was dead last. But this month, the PS3 does well, and a certain member just can't handle it. Where was all of this "npeedee iz t3h wr0Ng" the last year? IDK.

@Avinash: Can you give more specific information about NPD being from for December? I must have missed that and would like to know how it happened when NPD tracks sold to customer and fiscal reports sold to retail.
Did NPD stated Wii sold more than were actually shipped or sth like this?

If there was a thread concerning this case and you have a link to it, it would be helpful to post it (I was trying to find it but failed).
