So While looking for a new screeny to display my gaming needs I came across some which are advertised as 4k

you know 4k sounds good right? so when taking a closer look at the details ( the bigger the screens are the tinier these signs become )it revealed its actually 3840 × 2160

WTF thats like 2160p then these commercial guys are smart, make everything look bigger

cause basicly you expect 6800 x 4000 right?

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

I might have pulled the ratio out of my ass but it is around 1:1.7

The difference between 1080p and 2160p is 4 times the pixel, its just numbers for the most people what it means the picture is a lot better thats all that matters. 4k is a cinema term and it refers to the horizontal resolution 1080p for example is 2k actually.

And what you expected is 7680x4320 which would be 8k and which is 16 times the resolution of 1080p this is a little unrealistic don`t you think ?.

there are measuring it in horizontal now rather than vertical, and it is proper 4k on a projector it is slightly under on TV units. But it is 4x the amount of pixels, so i think its fine to call it 4k

But isn't it 4x the amount that is offered by 2k. So really it is just clever marketing nothing else.

i do not disagree with you guys, but its just interesting how they handle representing(selling) resolutions
