Theorising here that microsoft makes 800.000 Ones a month / 200.000 units a week / 9.600.000 units a year with their current manufaction.

What do you think Microsoft should do, and please explain why ( advantages/disadvantages )

I'll provide two options, you can use your own idea of you have a different idea

1. keep making units at this pace

2. Increase the amount of units produced right now and decrease when the shortages are over

3. ....

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Just continue to make units until the process get better... the number of units will increase in the next moths while the manufacture process get better.

And if they can make 800k units per month then they should be shipped over 2 million right now... it is three months of production (early September the mass production started).

seems about right as of 30 nov 1.6 sold 200k in stores/sold and 200k manufactured/shipped week of 7 dec should be at 2.2 mil ww shipped probably 1.8 sold

edit: fixed wrong number

I actually don't think that there enough resources to increase production.. Same goes for Sony.. Its not like they want shortages.. With a lot of tech produced at much higher volumes (Apple, Samsung) there has to be parts in low supply..

I don't know I'm just guessing but 700k per month give you 2.2m shipped the week 7 dec... averege of course (can be 600, 700 and 800 now :D)... 800k avg. will give over 2.5m shipped right now.

BTW I don't think MS reached 1.6m sales yet... or if reached it was this week.

Increasing production now would do nothing helpful, it would mean there would be a surge a month or two from now

I think around 10m a year is a good estimate, but they have better data than us to know how to deal with the demand.

I think you want plenty of spare consoles around for Titanfall launch, then see what happens after that

I think they will increase the production... they need to... 10m a year is low for actual console launchs because more people are buying them early.

I'm guessing something close to 12-13m for the year.

Well they were making them for a few months before, so that's where the extra 2m comes from

nah first years are usually low

better clarification for 2 week timeline:
30th nov 1.6 sold +200k in stores= 1.8 shipped + 200k manf/ beingshipped ( during week of the 30th)
7th december will be 2.0 + 200k manf/ being shipped

That is a good point and I think the game changed.

We will see a more frontloaded generation even saw in the game industry and that will make the fastest generation too... I can see we talking about next-generation in 5-6 years or less.

Today people buy things early and fast than they did in 2005/2006... people have more info and hype avaiable too.
