Rising? I wouldn't go near that abomination!! MGS4 had Raiden in it, but it wasn't about him. Although like i said Kojima himself likes Raiden, which is why Raiden was so different in that game. He wanted people to think what a badass he is. As most fans hated his guts in MGS2.

 

Did I mention MGS2 anywhere in my post? I said the community has been fine with Raiden in Rising and MGS4, and to be honest all this Raiden hate is too coincidental with this reveal.

Raiden is the most hated character in the MGS franchise. I've known about this since the PS2 days. Myself, i like him, didn't like that pile of crap Rising though!!

And, of course, we all tear up when she dies at the top of the Metal Gear.

 

But suddenly, she magically appears on MGS4 and then, the "canon" option is to save her in MGS1. She's EVEN more annoying than she used to be in MGS4.

Snake did almost everything in MGS2 while you controlled a guy in his dreams... I think he lives in the VR missions yet.

Gray Fox was far way better Ninja than this crap copy.

She doesn't die if you do.................. *i have no idea how to censor stuff*

MGS4 assumes you have gone through the story that way.

Kinda like Dragon Age II? Have you played that one? The first have multiple scenarios. The second one, present you with a "version'' most players have made.

I always thought it was Rose. At least there's people that like Raiden, can't really say the same about Rose.

The point I am getting at, is, she's not mentioned EVEN ONCE during MGS2. That, and the fact that you're with Otacon...

 

Rings any bell which was the ending it was present to the players in MGS2? But then she later appeared magically in MGS4, forcing us to rewrite whatever story we have founded 'till MGS1, and merely guessing that Snake just plain ignored her during MGS2.

 

Hell, even in one of the "Snake Tales" for the Substance version of MGS2 they acknowledge Meryl did die xD (though Snake Tales are non-canon).

I'm a little surprised by the revisionist history going on in here. I remember Raiden being absolutely reviled during MGS2 for being a girly idiot and having those inane conversations with Rose (now SHE is the worst character in the MGS universe by quite a large margin).

So Kojima made a joke out of him in MGS3 to appease the fans (Raikov) tried to make him "cool" in MGS4 because he didn't want to write him out of the series. It didn't really work. At least for me. I mean, I didn't hate Raiden to the extent I did in MGS2, but it was all just smoke and mirrors having him jump around the screen hacking at Gekkos to try and make me like him. And besides, the coolest scene with Raiden in (the split screen where you're controlling Snake in the other) was wasted on me, because... I was controlling Snake at the time. I didn't have time to watch Raiden :P

But yeah. Both exclusive contents are kinda lame, to be honest, and they make me angry because I do not want this practice to be the future of gaming; and yet it seems it's actually the here and now of gaming.
