Well, they did what they promised: "a new look at an upcoming game". New look means that we have seen it before: Zelda, Metroid, we haven`t.
It was that world premiere thing that too mislead me at first! :D

What is crappy about DKC, or Cranky Kong. Cranky is badass, and DKC is one of the best franchises of all time! If ya ask me, Cranky Kong was the highlight of the whole show!

even though Cranky Kong announcement sucked it was the best thing on the show
as soon as that was over I turned it off and did some other stuff and I'm sure many did the same

It will be as history calls it.
If the wii u fails miserably then game historians will look back at that VGX moment with humour and highlight it as one of the worst things Nintendo could have done even if it wasn't.
If things turn out relatively well for the wii u then it can be forgotten or even seen as a moment of genius but I think it being a genius moment is very unlikely.

Just noticed your sig, you sure it was Cicero that did that? My head is not quite what it was as the holidays approach and the liquor is consumed, but I am sure it was Cato, probably the Elder that finished his speeches like that.
