Forums - Gaming - Do you think shows like VGX affect the game industry?

Anyone who saw today's big show knows that is was complete crap. Very few things were interesting and all in all it was just embarrassing to watch.

Is this the image we want? Is this what non-gamers think of us? Thankfully this wasn't on TV (at least to my knowledge).

Industry-wise?  Not much I think.

Perosnally? By continually showing proof that I hate the idea of bro-dude gaming....

Then yes.

I think it does affect it, let's just hope that we can forget about this, sooner rather than later.

It affects the industry in the same way that drunken partying affects an otherwise level-headed college kid.

Then that level-headed college kid gets in a car accident for being too drunk.

Well, it hurts more than it helps, but is this show important enough to the wider public to say that it actually has any affect in and of itself? I doubt it.

It had minor effects in past. Now its completely irrelevant. This show is a joke now.

Amazing show!

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

Eh? It was a show. Not even a TV show, just an internet show. It means basically nothing.

They tried a new format this year, which I don't think worked very well, but that's part of improving. I'm guessing they got their funding cut big time and had to come up with something less expensive. Hopefully it will be much better next year.

They need an audience, even if it's a small one. They need to ditch the celebrity angle and just get people who know what they are talking about. Letting the winners film their own acceptance was the best part of the show, so keep that.

And I honestly very thankful for that. But imagine the show was broadcasted on TV, is this what we want the general public to think of the industry? The video game industry gets mock all the time by the media, and this type of shows won't help our situation at all, we are basically like clowns.

The VGX are nothing more than a marketing camping, this is nothing new of course, but it really pisses me off.
