"Can you put your fanboyisms aside and give unbiased advice to that customer?"

He didn't mention a console, he just listed positive features.

...But if the shoe fits.

When someone says "more powerful, cheaper, smaller", they're mentioning a PS4. Not "just listing positive features". When you work at a Gamestop or Walmart you can't let your fanboy show. You have to show the positives and negatives about all consoles.

Talk budget and then go from there. Maybe isolate their preferences in games, how important is multiplayer, what their friends have. Actually, that seems a little too personal. Maybe just price and call it a day.

If people don't know what console they should get, they shouldn't let a salesperson decide for the person how to spend ~$500.

That said, happy customers are returning customers, so I would do my best to nit-pick their brain/responses to see what would fit best for him/her/the family.

He didn't even say which console so for all you know he could be talking about the Ouya.

Please, don't try to get into this big argument that tries to prove to me that the Ouya is the most powerful system...its not worth the time.

Thank god lol

1) Ask them who they're buying for
2) Ask them if that person had a current gen console and mentioned anything about wanting the next gen console
3) Tell them that there's basically three things to consider in buying a console:
a) Price
b) Game line up and features
c) Non-game features
4) Tell them about Xbox's non-gaming features and then ask the customer if they would value it themselves and if they think it's worth a $100 premium
5) Tell them to go back and talk with their loved one about the games they want and really not go for a surprise present for such a big purchase. Ultimately just relay the information to the loved one.
6) Say goodbye to them
7) Get fired for not making a sale
