Sales is a terrible way to judge quality.  Avatar and Titanic are the highest grossing movies at the box office but neither movie are anyway near worthy of being mentioned in a top 100 movies of all time list.  Also the Dallas Cowboys generate the most revenue when it comes to NFL teams but the actual team has been one of the biggest jokes in the NFL for at least 15 years.

This is the problem people have with it, they fail to see beyond their own opinion. Guess what.

Other people actually enjoyed Avatar and Titanic.

Its amazing, isnt it?

Enjoying something doesn't make it great.  I'm pretty sure the people that enjoyed Avatar and Titanic aren't really into movies a lot or have a overall bad taste in movies.  Not that something that is considerd great is automacially great either.  2001: A Space Odyssey is considered great by most critics but in reality its one of the most overrated movies of all time.  Another great example is Kayne Wests latest album Yeezus it has a 85/100 metascore but is actually one of the worst albums of all time which also feauters one of the worst songs and music videos of all time with the track Bound 2.

I disagree. I think that if a lot of people enjoy it then it does prove that its great. It appeals to the target audience. It does the job its supposed to do extremely well.

Again enjoying something doesn't make it great some people might enjoy Titanic or Avatar but if they had the slightest clue about movies they never would put either in their top 100 movies of all time list.

Opinions vary. One mans bag of rubbish is another mans bag of treasure.

Define great. You tell me what makes a great movie or a great videogame.

Meta is bullshit.

Oh just man up and say its unfortunate. Both franchises dropped a bracket. It happens but no biggie if you still plan to enjoy the game. GT is a great sim but suffers as a video game. That is why the score is down, not because of its sim factor.

I met you half way, happy?

As much as I love GT, this is very true. It's true for GT5 as well, that's why I sold GT5 and stuck with Forza 3 (the most fun I've had with a racing sim since GT4).

You can have great mechanics in a videogame but if it doesn't "sweep" you along with the presesntation/story then its not going to be that great of a videogame. Just like you can have a movie with an awesome stroyline but with bad acting and it'll turn out mediocre. Certain strings have to be hit in the entertainment business in order to be considered great and everyone has their strings that they like having hit leading to ones opinion. If that made any sense to anyone.

There is no magic formula that defines what makes a great movie or game.  That being said Titanic or Avatar will never be considered great.  Also with games most of them don't age well so what is considerd great now might not be so in the near future.  With movies its a different story Django Unchained is a great movie now a will be so in the future also.  As a matter of fact over time its greatness will probably increase.  My original point still stands enjoying something doesn't make it great.  I enjoy Kung Pow! Enter the Fist I would rate it 7/10 which is miles higher then its 14/100 metascore but even though I enjoy it I wouldn't consider it a great movie.  There are plenty of people that enjoy things that are really only mediocre or even bad that doesn't make something great.

How does this game compare to GT5? I actually liked that game.

Well everything is improved with a lot of new content, yet it scores lower. go figure.

I hope everyone asking for more agressive AI is happy now. I just got pit maneuvred twice by the AI on Silverstone and used as a bumper in corners. (That's in the mission events, normal race AI is still very tame so far)

Umm titanic is overrated, but a massive about of oscars and critical acclaim, it sure is considered great.
