Forums - General - What's the definition of a TRUE fanboy?

Okay i have been seeing multiple people claiming that a fanboy is someone who does "this" while others claim that a fanboy is someone who does "that". It destroys the mind listening to these random definitions. Usually people try to make up their own definition that is specifically made to make that person look good or to not fit that definition when talking about it.

Some of these definitions are WAAAAYY too specific for people to even fit the descriptions.

It is time that we end this. It is time that we, as a community, finally sculpted our own true definition. =P

I also want to here all of the mods opinions aswell

So basically i want you to answer 2 questions

1.) During your time here on VGC, do you think you have ever ran into a fanboy or atleast seen one?

2.)If you answered yes then what did they do to make you look at them as a fanboy?

Also, if you feel like i am a fanboy and i did something fanboyish to you then feel free to let me know. You can use me as an example ;)

1. Yes
2.. Tried to rewrite history into what they approve of. 2 Tried to change the way console winners are determined. 3. Attacked anyone who they didn't agree with( A photo was released showing a better pic for a game on X1 then PS4. I agreed with the facts of what was shown. I got called a delusional MS fanboy. The next day the site that took the pic admitted the X1 shot was better, Still got called a delusional fanboy and attacked by the real one who couldn't handle the truth.)

Difference between a fan and fanboy is a fan can see logic and admit when their company of choice does something wrong, a fanboy tries to defend everything their company of choice does despite how wrong it may be.

1. Yes

2. Answered above.

Basically when you try to defend your console of choice despite it's shortcomings, completely ignoring facts, or just completely change the subject. For example when talking about the wii U the 3ds always gets brought up or now the famous ''Just wait until *insert game* releases, when talking about ps4, the ps4 has no games . Also a fanboy has a VERY selective memory, and quickly forgets about past events. A fanboy changes his/her mind ALL THE TIME (ie sales don't matter, graphics don't matter, etc) Also I have seen plenty of fanboys here, I have done my trolling and defending, but some people here are just blind to facts.

Fanboy is not a real word. In closing in can not be defined.
There is no only one thing that can make up a "fanboy" so why try label it?

Just checked apparently its in the oxford dictionary -_-

I know i know lol

now answer the questions!!

=)

Yes.

A fanboy is different from a fan because not only does he love something way too much, but he also hates the competition. A Nintendo fan wants Nintendo to do great while a Nintendo fanboy wants Nintendo to do great and for Sony and Microsoft to fail.

You know..

I dont think i have EVER seen a person do that. I've never really seen a person who tried to justify or defend all of their preferred companies wrong doings

This is what made me create this thread
