Forums - General - What's the definition of a TRUE fanboy?

Lol really? This year, fanboys are more active than ever and that is true for every camps.

Like someone said, fanboys to me are those who not only want their side to do well but they want the other sides to just fail or quit. They seem to enjoy seeing others suffer. They keep digging bad news from their "rival" side and keep on posting them and try as hard as they can to make sure the news is seen. They want their opinion to rule above all... "Only my choices should be considered relevant!"

Fanboys exclude types as they see fit and decide what is what... "these games don't count because of said (mostly idiotic) reasons!".

Fans like games, fanboys like consoles above games and breath when rivals suffer... lol there are plenty of these personas in here and on the web... I don't think you need to look them.

These treads have never been fun as you cannot name names. I suppose some sort of peace has to try to be kept, but still it is boring. I still think one of the funniest threads to be locked years ago was polls on the biggest fanboy from from each of the big three on the site. It was closed by the former head mod. I wish this thread could exist..

I know there is a mod lurking in here right now just waiting for me to slip up lol

But do you have any links to that older thread you were talking about that was locked by the head mod?

No, there was one for each company. Koweniki was winning number one Sony fanboy and it seemed to amuse all. Hell, making the treads will not get you banned just directly calling someone a fanboy will. Try it, and use an indirect way of saying it and it might work. lulz

Hating and commenting bad stuff on other consoles for unnatural reasons is what I would call a fanboy. If you just talk about positive things about your console but don't mention other consoles doesn't really make you a fanboy, I think.

In your opinion, do you think you have seen any fanboys here so far?

I haven't been here very long but I've seen a lot of comments about the Wii U, about minuscule sales going forward and stuff, and I don't always know if they're serious or not. I'll admit that I've played mostly Nintendo this gen though so maybe there is fanboy stuff from us Nintendo folks that I just don't notice. :P

In the end I want all three to succeed in this gen too, but not in ways against the consumer, like the original plans for the Xbox one. But I feel a little bit angry when I read fanboy comments about any console though, even about consoles I don't care much for.

Oops that was a little off-topic and also off-reply. But I guess there are fanboys on every big gaming site and forum. That's inescapable.

Yep.

Someone who is so balls deep buried in a company that they believe everything that company does and says is correct. They refuse to acknowledge that they lost an argument and will always ignore facts. They work for a company without ever getting paid :P.

Basically when you try to defend your console of choice despite it's shortcomings, completely ignoring facts, or just completely change the subject. For example when talking about the wii U the 3ds always gets brought up or now the famous ''Just wait until *insert game* releases, when talking about ps4, the ps4 has no games . Also a fanboy has a VERY selective memory, and quickly forgets about past events. A fanboy changes his/her mind ALL THE TIME (ie sales don't matter, graphics don't matter, etc) Also I have seen plenty of fanboys here, I have done my trolling and defending, but some people here are just blind to facts.

^Pretty much this.  I got a PS4 at launch because I love Killzone and I know the PS4 will make me happy.  But I am not blind to the fact that right NOW the Xbox One has more $60 exclusives worth getting.  It's basically Forza + Dead Rising vs Killzone.

Examples of fanboys?:

-"Wii U can still easily sell 60 million" (Lucky to get past 15 million)

-"The PS4 is gonna sell 200 million!"

-"The Xbox One is gonna be stronger than the PS4 in a couple years!"

I don't mind fanboys. I hate ppl that want to ruin your day. Like 50% of the the ppl here. Seriously, why not be happy for your favorite system instead of writing hateful comments about someone else's? What do you call that?

A hater?

1. Yes
2. They're saying that Knack is selling better than 3D World when It's only in UK.

Something I notice fanboys do is that they quickly make a thread about any tiny bit of bad news for the competitor. I'm sure I'm not the only one who notices that a certain MS fan makes a lot of negative Sony/Nintendo threads and a certain Sony fan who makes a lot of negative MS/Nintendo threads.

Also, Some of the funniest shit I've ever seen is people trying to change the definition of a "generation" and "winning a generation"
