Forums - Gaming - NFS: Rivals - PS4 has a respectable, if not spectacular, advantage in the visual stakes

There is another difference Digital Foundry didn't notice, in fact the most stricking difference between the versions:

The X1 and PC version have a blur added on the background objects missing on the PS4 version.

And the PC blur has some strange chromatic artifacts on top of the blur. Some kind of colored blur in fact. I am not sure it was intended in this way by the developers.

I don't know why DF didnt talk about it, because on the image comparison tools, the blur on X1 and PC is easily noticeable even for close objects like lamp post compared to PS4.

I noticed that too! Looking at the video comparison...i immediately picked up a distinct difference in the images between the PS4 version and the Xbone version. Xbone version seemed to have a blur effect...although it looks like its applied to the whole picture and not just distant objects...

I prefered the PS4 look though. Other than that i felt the version looked pretty much identical.

how much would you have to spend on a pc to get there visuals?

Not much...this is NFS we talking about.

1080p running at 30FPS....i could probably run the game on the highest settings with my current PC and I have a 2-3 year old mid range GPU.

The difference is so spectacular... they often look virtually the same.

Keep telling yourself that. Seeing them in motion is different then on compressed videos or captureds on you rPC, or still screens. I went th my friends house 2 days ago and played BF4 on his x1. When I came home the ps4 version was clerly better looking, the jaggies were immediately noticeable, as wasa the lesser sharp image and detail. The x1 is noticeable missing effects just in the comparisons.

People have 1080P HDTV's for a reason.

He did say "virtually" which means "almost."  So technically he's correct, acknowledging that one is better than the other.  ;)

This approach is kind of dangerous for the industry...

Games should call people´s attention by its gameplay , not only by its graphics. Graphics alone won´t bring new consumers to the market

This is  a digital foundry article...their focus is strictly technical/on graphics
