Besides that, it is also really not going to be able to prove it one way or the other. It does seem that M$ won the Post Thanksgiving weekend here in the US by a large margin, by default. They created a scenario that had their in-stock position at many retailers to be 3-4 times that of the PS4 for this holiday weekend. M$ clearly could have made more units available at launch and got a few more sales at that time if they wanted. They were aiming for 2 things:
1. To lay claim to over 1 million unit sales at launch
2. To lay claim to #1 console seller during Thanksgiving weekend

Mission accomplished from their perspective. Just more of M$ working the PR angles on everything.

Even if it did, the best approximates would likely put it on par with ps4 in NA at best, after all there was a sizeable gap in launch weeks, and ps4 had a week head start. Vgc has a hell of job on their hands tracking this shit, so I doubt the numbers here will be more than guesses until next year when sales stabilize.

It is far to soon to make any sort of conclusions.

Sony launches in 1 location and all shipments go to that location and hits 1 million. Then Sony gears up for another launch 2 weeks later and concentrates all shipments to that location with small shipments to the initial location. Another 1.1 million sold over those two weeks.

MS launches in 13 locations and distributes the shipments to those locations hits 1 million. Then MS continues to ship to all locations for 1 more week. Likely MS allocated more to US market because of black friday. We just dont know yet. Not to mention they only had 1 week to create and ship more. Likely to hear from MS later this week how many got out.

The key is the are both basically sold-out (Meaning you may find 1 or 2 at some store, but not readily available).

There is no way ot has caught up to PS4 in the US. Sony is leading in every territory, even with supply issues.

That depends on the shipment numbers for black Friday does it not, I think what's likely is that MS has shipped to territories that are less keen on Xbox so there is stock lying idle whereas countries like UK and US would sell through immediately whatever shipment they have. Sony however , by launching in one territory have effectively distributed their shipment much better, and created demand on black Friday due to lapsed worldwide launch.

Basically I think that ms has shipped close to their sellthrough number worldwide and both consoles are selling on par to what the manufacturers can ship, so much hype around this gen and so much profit to be made through eBay and other used game stores, that people will continue snapping them up, up until Christmas. And both manufacturers are likely trying to supply NA as much as possible while the Christmas hype lasts.
