My opinion isn't quite that extreme, but I generally agree. I haven't played every Mario game, but I've played a few of them, and I think Generations was better than all of the ones I've played. Mario seems vastly overrated to me. Mario didn't really appeal to me when I was 5 and asked for a Sega Genesis for Christmas instead of an SNES, and it still doesn't appeal to me at 24.

The Sonic franchise is great! But its level design is a mess. You have some really good ones, always mixed up with very poor ones. Some level will play on Sonic's strenght as a fast, reflex based platformer, and those levels will be pure gold. But then those are mixed up with slow paced level that just aren't as fun with a character like Sonic. Far behind are the days of Sonic 2...

Better example to show on Sonic's side since its a great mixture of 2D and 3D unlike the garbage 3D modern sonic aspect that was mostly seen in unleashed/etc.

I had the same idea looking at the video. While it's not true to that extent but if Sega looked into that level they would find a much much better gameplay mechanism than they have in every Sonic game. Yes Nintendo sometimes make it look that easy.
