People won't care if it gets discontinued in 2 years.

If a few games that are on the system are worthwhile such as Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Xenoblade and whatever other great game there will be (and what we already have), everyone will just move on and buy the next console.
I bought the Wii and only had 5 games for it, for 5 years. Yet I was happy with what I had and the games were fun enough to justify the purchase. I bought the DS and only played 2d Mario, Mario kart and Pokemon, for a few years...

It's not a matter of when they will release the next console, it's a matter of building a worthwhile/quality library for your current console. And that seems to be exactly the case with all the games they already announced and more to come.
When owners will be satisfied enough, it will be time to move on, let it be 1 year (I doubt it), 2 years, or 5 years...
Gamecube didn't sell tons, but the games it had were well made, and fun.

So if Nintendo make other high quality titles, were all going to be happy with our console purchase and won't feel let down or abandoned if they release their next console in 2 years.
And while Nintendo might be making a loss with Wii U hardware, once Smash and other big hitters come you better be ready for profits all the way till the end.

it all depends, its quite possile it could get discontinued in 2015, the wiiu has been selling like crap, its dead in europe, selling about 50k to 60k a month in the us, and pretty bad in japan, and this is before ps4/xbone are out, next year wiiu will be competing with 4 consoles, it starts selling 50% less then now, then nintendo might just have to discontinue it.

Wii U is at 3.98 mil WW so far, let's say it's at 4 (we'll be kind, it's good Nintendo after all)

PS4 has sold over 1 mil day 1 in NA, let's sat it's at 1 (we won't be kind, it's bad Sony after all)

1/4 => 25%

Today is the EU launch, we already know the preorders alone won't be met, so if Sony ships 1 mil (which it most probably will), PS4 will be at 2 mil WW.

2/4 => 50%

B) I guess you should define a "big system seller". Because it may be one, depending on the definition. After all, it gave the Wii U a MASSIVE boost of 5k in a single week in Japan!! And it sold 100k copies. Considering God Eater 2 already sold 500k and gave a +/- 60k boost to Vita in a week in the same Japan, it must be a megaton and a total gamechanger

Nah. Vita is profitable, especially in Japan, where only 3DS sales better. Companies making Vita games get outstanding profits there, far exceeding their expectations. There is no way it's gonna be discontinued, especially now when the West gets remote play.
