lol NSMBWii had only around a 25% attach rate. Considering Wii U's sales, I'd say Mario U has sold pretty damn well, and it has legs.

Well, NSMBU was my 2012 game of the year on any console/handheld so I'm exempt from having to apologize.
Regarding the rest, I certainly wouldn't call WiiU a "piece of trash" but I do have to agree that it was ill-conceived at this juncture simply because Nintendo has yet to show us why they designed the console around the Gamepad dynamic in the first place (yes, the off-TV play is great and it makes for a nifty browser around the house for someone without a tablet, but I'm talking software here).
I really like WiiU and the Gamepad, but by E3 '14 Nintendo better demonstrate something compelling that proves that they had a vision for gameplay in mind when they designed it.
The problem here is, a lot of Nintendo "fanboys" just want to playing Nintendo 1st party games, and some of them have PS3/X360 to play Multiplayer games. this 1st party Nintendo fanboys seems so proud with Mario, Zelda, and etc2 but they dont really care 3rd party games, so why Nintendo need to bother their fanboys??? lets make an example COD Ghost WiiU, i played COD Black Ops because THERE IS NO GREAT GAMES on WiiU that time. Ok ill admitted i played NSMBU and NLand. But after that? Nothing! so i looking some games for WiiU i found MH3U and COD OPS2. And i really enjoy MH3U and OPS2 (i even pray every single night i wish Ghost and MH4HD for WiiU) and we got Ghost for WiiU! and my other Nintendo fanboys friend still wait for New Mario/Zelda/Metroid/etc2 games for their WiiU and not really care about WiiU Global sales or 3rd party games.
The Wii U wouldn't be doing as bad as it is now if it weren't for NSMBU. It would be doing ever more worse.
I thank you, 2D Mario games.

I can't say whether the WiiU is a piece of trash or not, but I do know that I am currently playing Need For Speed Most Wanted on it using the tablet as a motion controller, and it is the most fun I've had all year in gaming. THAT is the reason why I got a WiiU - not to just play the same old game with better resolution, but to actually have some fun.
In related news, I see NFS Rivals have bombed on the 360 and PS3 - I wonder if EA is now going to drop support for these platforms too?
It still amazes me how everyone bashes the SM3DW retail sales and forgets that there is digital sales and to count and the fact also that the game is small to in the first place, which obviously makes the wii u different from older nintendo consoles. We won't know the full sales report until nintendo's next financial report.
Isn´t this a bit of overacting ?
We all know that home consoles are a fading trade, how many years we have been seeing lower and lower worldwide sales of consoles ? three, four years ? And in Japan, figures are even worse. Isn´t Xbox360 a complete fail there ?
I think the new consoles will experience the same problems WiiU is having right now, maybe just not so harsh. Don´t expect any of them to sell as good as their predecessors, even with the amazing PS4 launch sales.
WiiU struggle may be a hint of what the future has for the market.....
RolStoppable said: Japanese sales figures have come in and there's no doubt that Super Mario 3D World performed below expectations, both on the software and the hardware level. In fact, the game opened to lower sales than New Super Mario Bros. U which was a launch title and thus didn't have nearly as big of a number of console owners to sell to as SM3DW. Due to the lack of special Black Friday offers, SM3DW and the Wii U itself probably won't do hot in North America either. Europe should be self-explanatory at this point in time. So perhaps Rol was right all along (a pity that superchunk holds the copyright for that thread title) when he said that the Wii U is a piece of trash and a problem in and of itself, thus being a permanent obstacle that will take down any software released on it with it. What are some of the ugly things you said about NSMBU? 1) After E3 2012, you claimed that the only real system seller Nintendo showed for the Wii U was Pikmin 3. Disgraceful behavior. 2) When it became apparent that the Wii U was treading water in early 2013, your shameful excuses were that 2D Mario is not a system seller, despite NSMBU boasting an attach rate of over 50% and continuing to do so. Instead of accepting that there is something wrong with the console itself, you tried to push the blame on the one thing that kept it alive. It was disgusting. So now is the time to say it with me: "The Wii U is a piece of trash. NSMBU didn't fail, it's that the system itself is so ill-conceived that it has no long term future, regardless of what games Nintendo releases for it." Accept the reality. NSMBU is a great game and so is SM3DW. However, that doesn't change what the Wii U is. |
This is aggressive trolling, but I guess since you have a high post count and are from Austria (put another shrimp on the barby, bloke) it's all good.

I hope this is your particular brand of humor and not an actual observation.
