Japanese sales figures have come in and there's no doubt that Super Mario 3D World performed below expectations, both on the software and the hardware level. In fact, the game opened to lower sales than New Super Mario Bros. U which was a launch title and thus didn't have nearly as big of a number of console owners to sell to as SM3DW. Due to the lack of special Black Friday offers, SM3DW and the Wii U itself probably won't do hot in North America either. Europe should be self-explanatory at this point in time. So perhaps Rol was right all along (a pity that superchunk holds the copyright for that thread title) when he said that the Wii U is a piece of trash and a problem in and of itself, thus being a permanent obstacle that will take down any software released on it with it.

What are some of the ugly things you said about NSMBU?

1) After E3 2012, you claimed that the only real system seller Nintendo showed for the Wii U was Pikmin 3. Disgraceful behavior.

2) When it became apparent that the Wii U was treading water in early 2013, your shameful excuses were that 2D Mario is not a system seller, despite NSMBU boasting an attach rate of over 50% and continuing to do so. Instead of accepting that there is something wrong with the console itself, you tried to push the blame on the one thing that kept it alive. It was disgusting.

So now is the time to say it with me: "The Wii U is a piece of trash. NSMBU didn't fail, it's that the system itself is so ill-conceived that it has no long term future, regardless of what games Nintendo releases for it."

Accept the reality. NSMBU is a great game and so is SM3DW. However, that doesn't change what the Wii U is.

This is aggressive trolling, but I guess since you have a high post count and are from Austria (put another shrimp on the barby, bloke) it's all good.

I hope this is your particular brand of humor and not an actual observation.
