Forums - Gaming - Xbox One vs PS4 vs WiiU - What decision should you make

''You've obviously never own a Nintendo console to be making such a comment.''

I have, I bought a Wii, had it for a for a few years and sold it, it took a lot of dust all those years, I thought they were gonna get some new franchises and third party support, but I shouldn't have bought it in the first place, because there wasn't really anything to play, so I sold it and kept playing on the 360. I know a lot of people who sold their Wii.

''Games like Metroid Prime, Super Smash Bros, Legend of Zelda and Mario are the reason to own a WiiU''

Or they are a reason to buy a preowned Gamecube or install an emulator. I've never played all those games and all their sequels, so I see no reason.unless I'm a diehard fan. Three consoles running 80% of the same games not being good for anyone as a consumer has no bearing at all on the companies business-wise. The simple fact of the matter is that if you’re faced with companies like Sony and Microsoft having 15 blockbusters every year that people really want to play, next to Nintendo having 5 console-exclusive games people want to play, people are going to get one of the two systems that have more of the games they want to play.

Their competition are always ready to throw dollars around to get the software people want and in Microsoft's case spend millions of dollars to get the software people want, are Nintendo willing to do that? Are they just gonna say ''we have money in the bank''? Because quite frankly nobody gives a shit how much money they have, their competitors are giant worldwide multi billion dollar coporations, they have money too and are gonna do what it takes to stay ahead of the game, leaving NIntendo behind. People aren’t going to buy a system that has less of what they want unless they’re diehard fans of those specific games, and in many cases they’d have to be such huge fans that the idea of paying $300 just to play that one game with a big maybe for anything else they’d want to play in the future would be acceptable to them. Nintendo is on the path to irrelevance as a console maker. Unless they stop pretending that gimmicks and a low price will make up for not having the games people want to play, they’re going to become Sega. I am entirely serious when I say that I can see them reduced to a third party video game and peripheral maker for Sony, Microsoft and whoever replaces Nintendo by the next generation if Nintendo doesn’t get their act together. They’d still be in the handheld market, I'd guess, but not consoles.

will be cheaper to buy HW, upgrade HDD, accessories, subs
usually has the most diverse and amount of exclusives

XB1 cons
more expensive everything
multiplats will be inferior to PS4 more so than last gen ps360
titanfall is a multiplayer only game

Made my decision months ago.
I'm getting a PS4 and X1, some really nice looking games on both. The Wii U is the only one that doesn't interest me tbh.

My doubt is to choose ps4 or xbox one (or pc)
now im inclined a little to xbox one. til 2015 i decide.

Seriously, the WIi U is a kids toy, just like the Gamecube, if you wanna play NIntendo games, then download a Gamecube or N64 emulator, it's basically the same games.  The Wii U isn't worth it. I'll hope it will sell below 30 million because that's their install base, nobody wants to play on a console that just offers first party outdated franchises, the Gamecube had a lot more third party support and even then people didn't like it.

Just go away if you're going to be a douche, man. It's not clever and no one cares.

No, seriously, it is a kids toy, Todd Howard from Bethedsa (who makes blockbusters every year) said the same thing a couple of years ago. that's why the Gamecube sold little too, because of no online server, little third party support and only first party games that in fact attracts the younger most, the Wii U basically have the same problems. I'm an adult and Nintendo games doesn't appeal/interest me, in fact many other adults have that feeling too. If Nintendo doesn't get their act together they are gonna end up like Sega, because they are losing money the same way Sega did with the Dreamcast.

Really, Nintendo needs to put more focus on having their specs on par with Sony and Microsoft. They don’t need to have all the same bells and whistles like plugging into live TV or even having Netflix, but they need to be capable of playing the same games that are on that latest consoles by Sony and Microsoft so they can get multiplatform/blockbuster games, and they need the simple, straightforward multiplayer functionality for people to play games together. I'd say fire Reggie, go third party or make a real next gen console with a real controller for people who actually have 2 eyes. Nintendo are making it harder and challenging for the developers to make games to a console where the demography is vastly different to the others with a console where you need 4 eyes to play a game and which is challenging to make games to that's why many developers and publishers are avoiding it.

Bold the parts that are blatent fanboyism with no real facts to support it.

It is challenging to make third party blockbusters to it, often when third parties make multiplatform games they don't spend all that much effort making their multiplatform games better on PS4 than Xbox One, because it really doesn't pay for them to do that, they're gonna make one version and kinda have some small tweaks that makes the PS4 version look better, but they're not gonna look or feel any different. So you're not gonna be any disappointed with an Xbox One, generally when the third parties then decides to port the game to consoles like Wii U or 3DS, they'd have to redo the game all the way from the beginning because of the hardware differences, they then select a less qualified studio to work on the game, that's why they often get delyed, cancelled or rushed and that's why the games gets bad, probably also because Nintendo aren't really third party friendly especailly with development tools. I remember during the Gamecube days that massive US companies like EA were forced to purchase retail hardware from Japan and reverse-engineer it in order to make their games.

Do you really think that just because a Mario game have just released on a console with no user base can compete with the new console launches? And that everybody will just rush out and buy a Wii U? Nobody will rush out to buy a Wii U, right now, right in the middle of the launch of Xbox One. it's only going to get worse within the next few hours when PS4 arrives in Europe.

It's fun to point out EA when people talk about Wii U 3rd party support because clearly a console lives and dies with EA support. Remember when EA proudly and exsessively supported the 3DO? That worked out well. Porting games from PS4/X1 will not be as hard as it has been in other generations. There have been generations where some consoles exclusively use triangle polygons and some exclusively use quadrangles. The ports were still made. The fact is most other major 3rd parties are making their multi-platform games for Wii U and will continue to.

Mario is not the only reason to buy a Wii U. There are dozens of other games and features that make the Wii U attractive to customers. Just as many reasons as the other two. It's pretty clear that you've never given Nintendo a chance. Maybe it's because you're too young to remember when they dominated the market. Who knows. I don't know you. But buying a Wii with a couple casual games and never playing it does not justify your crazy hatered for Nintendo.

Mmhmm... 'first party outdated franchises' that are consistently some of the highest rated games of any generation.

And just in case you fell on your head at some point:  ALL GAME CONSOLES ARE TOYS

Bulltshit, I didn't say anything like that, what I said is that Wii U is generally a kids toy, much more than Xbox and PS, don't try to deny that and just because they are high rated doesn't mean people wanna play them. Wii U is crap.

I wonder why Nintendo games are consistently at the top of the sales charts if no one wants to play them?  I wonder who in the world is buying all of those games... Maybe people aren't buying them because they want to play them, maybe they are just buying them because it's their hobby to collect games that no one wants to play.

-or-

Perhaps Nintendo is buying their own games to make it look like people actually want them!  That has to be it!  I mean, it is the only scenerio that supports your absurd dogma.

-or-

Perhaps you think everyone in the world shares your opinion, even though they clearly don't.

*And, since it didn't seem to sink in the first time: PS4 is a kid's toy.  Xbox1 is a kid's toy.  WiiU is a kid's toy.  If you need to pretend they're something else, simply so that you don't feel childish, well that's on you.

Maybe im a kid at my heart (even im 26). I have soo much more fun with nintendo games than the games in my PS3. And nintendo style touched my heart, and still touching with wii U games. why have only GC games if i can also have wii U games also?

I know it will sell very poorly, i expect no more than GC. But i dont care if other people dont play what im playing.

And, seriously, you only can have this ideia from wii U if you had played all games for it.And Im not trying to convince you to buy a Wii U(althoug you are convincing me not to buy...), im just answering the topic question.

I know that i will be much more happy with a Wii U and a Xbox One than only with a Xbox One and a GC emulator. If thats not your case, you dont need to quote me, and convince me not to buy a wii U.

During the ps2 and ps1 era I don't feel that sony's first party games were as plentiful or as well reviewed as they were during the ps3's run. I feel like the fact that publishers made alot of games multiplatform forced sony to take more risks with ips this gen.  The ps1 and ps2 got so much more third party support in comparison to Nintendo and xbox during those times that Sony didnt need to take as many risks.  This new gen Sony will probably keep it going the way they have with the ps3, but i wouldn't be suprised if Microsoft brought the same level of risk considering they bought some new studios.
