Forums - Gaming - InFamous: Second Son Pre-Orders on par with Titanfall on XB1

Actually, even though Titanfall and Second Son are really close in numbers, Titalfall is actually doing exponentially better. If my calculations are correct, then those numbers suggest that approximately 65% of Xbone owners have pre-ordered Titanfall. Keep in mind I haven't actually looked up Xbone hardware sales; I've simply evaluated the conversations in these forums and quantified the majority opinion into an approximation of XBone's hardware sales.

I suspect Titanfall's preorders will speed up from here on out, while Second Son's will slow some, but I could be wrong. Regardless, I expect Titanfall to sell around 5 million on the Xbox One. I personally am looking forward to both games, though I'm more excited about Titanfall.

generally, reservations increase the closer a game is to release.

i honestly think titan fall i going to disappoint a lot of people (sales wise). online multiplayer only will hurt it.

infamous looks amazing though to glad to see it get the props it deserves.

Dissapoint sounds a bit harsh but I have noticed something. When customers come in asking whats the next big thing for XBO the first thing that comes to mind for me is Titanfall. Almost everyone has heard of that game by now but most don't realize it is multiplayer only. I mention this as a positive for them(Shooter single players are usually filler) yet they actually react differently than what I would expect. I personally refuse to buy any game that I cannot enjoy to some degree by myself.

I do on the other hand think it will perform just fine. EA kinda sucks at advertising most things but for something as big as this they will pull it together. I imagine heavy advertising and minimum of 4million sales.

Infamous is definitely a lot more popular than most realize. Sony has an underlining reason for releasing games for free on PSN+. Its the F2P method, get the game or predecessor in as many people's hands as possible to create future interest or purchases. Infamous 2 would have sold a lot better if not put as a freebie, but allowing so many ppl to play it means a lot more people know what Infamous SS is and many will want to experience that as well. Infamous SS's views on Youtube are the highest out of all the exclusives.

If I were to geuss, I think Infamous SS will sell 3-4 million as well, if its REALLY good than maybe 6mill LT.

4 million across all platforms?  maybe.  on xbone?  no.

online multiplayer games needs an active community to play against or it isn't fun.   titanfall will launch when xbox is less than 5M consoles sold so the most it could hope for at launch is ~2M; a very repectable attach rate.  a far greater attach rate than i believe possible when guys like me (who won't buy an online only game) simply won't buy it.  single player isn't th filler to me,.. multiplayer is the filler which on most games i don't touch.    ...and as nearly all online game's communities go bust within a month or two of launch i absolutely believe titanfall's community will too fail soon after launch.   ..and with it so does titanfalls sales legs.

i said disappoint.  i mean disappoint.

Color me surprised. Everyone is hyping up Titanfall as the next big thing, the XB1's killer app and system seller.

But according to VGchartz, InFamous: Second Son is right on par with it for pre orders. Infamous is actually doing better right now considering it comes out a week later.

I suspect this may change quite a bit since MS will market Titanfall a lot when it comes out in March, so Titanfall will have better long term sales. But InFamous is doing pretty damn good right now. Should be the best selling InFamous.

Do you think Titanfall sales will fail to live up to its hype? IMO anything under 5 Million for the XB1 sku would be dissappointing for MS, Respawn, and EA.

Did MS make a mistake by not locking this up as XB1 exclusive? (it's also on xbox 360 and PC)

InFamous 1 sold 2.65m and InFamous 2 sold 1.6. Will this be InFamous break out title? Will it sell over 3 million finally?

I think your reasoning is very flawed.  It is surprising that Second Son is not substantially ahead of Titanfall - given it has two existing games with solid sales, and an equivelant marketing push from Sony.

5 million copies sold for Titanfall (assuming it releases by April next year) would require every single X1 owner to purchase the game - and attach rate of 100% based on the number of consoles it will launch too.

I will allow for the possibility you just didn't quite grasp the history of these two titles, and the context of the market they'll launch into, but its hard not to feel like you're deliberately trolling...

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

I still don't see how titanfall can be a systems seller when it's available on PC and 360. 360 will get most of it's sales it's probably going to cut the legs out of the xbox one version simply because many people cant spring the 500 and people will want to play with their friends likely making many xbox one owners spring for the 360 version just to play with their clan mates. It will still do well on xbox one, but it's likely the online community is going to dry up pretty fast. Example.. 800,000 copies of ghost sold on ps4, and only 20,000 people online at any given time. Some game modes are impossible to get a game in, having as little as 200 people in the lobbies.

But i think infamous is going to do pretty well. Maybe 3 million after a year on the market. Depending on how well the PS4 continues to sell.

I'm more surprised on FFx/X-2's numbers! It's probably gonna be the best selling HD remaster of all time! Although I do hope we see the vita versions soon. If only Squeenix would announce something about the vita versions.

They will understand that was a mistake to not release it on PS4

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

Titanfall on xbox one is gonna kill infamous in sales in my opinion. It is a bit disappointing that it's multiplayer only, but most people who play call of duty and battlefield play it for the multiplayer first.

Iam geting infamous ss on launch day

VITA 32 GIG CARD.250 GIG SLIM & 160 GIG PHAT PS3

doesnt this actually mean titanfall is better? its beating a known ip on a console with more people
