Forums - Sony - Guerrilla Games - Horrible design choices

4 games into the Killzone franchise.

They still don't get it. They've gone a little backwards since being bought out by Sony. KZ2 was the best. KZ3 was the worst. Shadowfall is somewhere in between.

They are great graphics programmers. The gameplay is sorely lacking is has been since KZ2. They've never aced the controls. FPS view cameras are supposed to be controlling your EYES to look around, not your entire body. Hence, you should be able to look around very quickly. The weighty feel in all KZ is ridiculous.

Secondly, they shouldve known KZ:SF would be many players introduction to PS4. They chose to start the game with a dark cutscene that didnt really show off the games graphics, and then follow it up with a pretty hard tutorial. Sorry but that's not the proper way to invite players into a next-gen console.

They are great technicians. They make some of the best looking games out there. But I feel theyre just like Crytek. Good graphics, crappy games. KZ just isnt a fun series.

I agree; dark intro with HARD tutorial (hardest level = chapter 2) didn't make sense

Don't compare them to Crytek. Crytek makes actual crappy games, while you just dislike Killzone.

havent played shadow fall but played KZ2 and KZ3 and i really have to disagree with you. gameplay in KZ3 is the best FPS gameplay i played so far. just because its difficult doesnt mean controls arent precise. and no the view isnt supposed to control your eyes, it controls the body. do you hold a gun, aim, run, jump with your eyes? or your body?

I do agree somewhat though with the controls. They should have taken the opportunity to reinvente the gameplay to cater more to that "COD" fanbase. It really hurts me to say that.

Currently own:

  • Ps4

Currently playing: Witcher 3, Walking Dead S1/2, GTA5, Dying Light, Tomb Raider Remaster, MGS Ground Zeros

Highly disagree. Loved every killzone including 3. Don't see what was so hard about the intro tutorial either and it wasn't that dark on my screen and looked stunning as well.

I have yet to see an FPS that controls your eyes. That would be really weird. How would you control the gun? The camera is always somewhere on the chest. It makes you feel short when playing some FPS.

Haven't played KZ:SF so can't comment. But you saying the tutorial is pretty hard actually excites me for the game.

And no. The are not like Crytek. Crysis was their only good game and that went downhill halfway through.

for the love of god no. CoD's gameplay is awesome............ in 2007. not its just outdated. it feels like floating around with a gun more than having heavily equipment on you. gun balance is a joke and spawning is horrible. the gameplay is way to dumbed down and easy. if devs want quality they should stay away from CoD gameplay. unless they want to release the game in 2008.

Comment of the year here. Give this man a stout and some fish and chips.

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

One of my biggest pet peeves in gaming is the "there can only be one control method per genre". I hate that so much. In my opinion, that's just laziness on the part of the player and an unwillingness to step into a different game with an open mind. I don't want to play the same game over and over within a different shell.
