I wish Rare had been kept by Nintendo.
Killer Instinct U, Perfect Dark, and Banjo-Kazooie U would be great right now.

I wish Nintendo had kept Rare if only for the properties. EAD and Retro could definitely pick up where Rare left off in 2001/2002.

It wouldn't be the worst thing just to have kept the company anyway to be honest. Even if they had to restaff, Nintendo needs a European studio of 200+ developers. They just don't have enough games for their platforms.
Retro's only capable of making 1 game every 2-3 years, and EAD is swamped as is that they can't work on a lot of their older franchises.
Daaaaamn... I remember Starfox Adventures... That game was so awesome, even though I never actually beat it... lol...
Memories...

If we only had factor 5...
But yeah, you are right. Nintendo aren't capable of supporting their systems at all times. With the low amount of 3rd party software they need to be that. They have no one that makes games for the west anymore! Retro is making DK, and NST, the makes of Wave Race and 1080 went on to make Mario vs. DK. Even if the two of those made the western games they were supposed to, it would be to little.
In the craze of expanding into a new market they completely threw out an old one. Hopefully they'll be able to "expand" back to the gamers again, but SM3DW isn't going to cut it. X is a good start, but we need others. Maybe an western rpg in the veins of Skyrim, maybe a shooter or a racing sim.
Or just anything.
