Forums - Microsoft - Xbox Fitness = Complete disappointment

this sucks, I wanted to get an XOne for this reason pretty much as well. I suspected that not all of the programs were going to be available given the big amount of them but at the same time I thought that the ones that were going to be available would be complete.

I already own Insanity, Tapout XT, Les mills combat, and a few others but the idea to have some feedback (atleast in a basic way) about my form and technique was very appealing to me.

Whatever, time to grab my bottle of water and do some insanity :D

I hear ya. That's again, one of the reasons i was stoked about it. Gaming and my passion for exercise in one place.

TheSting, I found the inforation on the BeachBody website. It specifically says that only 2 videos for each program would be available on Xbox One and if you wanted the other workouts, you need to buy the  videos from their website on disc format. I wish they would get with the times and go digital. Their videos get just as easily ripped from the disc based they sell.

Now, I'm a tad torn. I have never been an early adopter and this time I did with Xbox One. If I decide to return it (which at this point, I'm in the highly category) I'm not sure if I'll try to snag a PS4 or if I should take advantage of black Friday and get a PS3 bundle that comes with the Last of US and Arkham Origins. I'm also eyeballing a Wii-U. I miss Mario and Zelda games. Haven't played one since the N64 era.

I thought you were an Xbox guy, so pretty much everything about Xb one is still there, except for a somewhat gimped Xb fitness. And seriously I wouldn't have thought anyone on this site (fitness freak or otherwise) would make their console buying decision based on a "casual" app.

Don't succumb to buyer's remorse.

I loved my 360. Sold it to a nice family for $300 to subsidzed my One purchase. Like I said before, I love games and exercise so that was the selling point. I've been having random issues with my One. Like, for some reason my avatar won't show up and I can't get it to load. No biggie for my but my girlfriend created one, she was so excited only to not load anymore after mistakenly changing to one of the random pictures on the console. Also, Kinect doesn't react as quickly as I originally thought. Sometimes it has a hard time listening to my commands. I'm not a native english speaker so that might be one of the reasons, but I changed the language to Spanish and it still has some hard tme covering my commands in that language. Maybe it's the distance from my couch but it's optimal for the size of my TV and gaming.  We'll see either way. I'm sleeping on it and might make a decision this weekend.

If that workout part is so important, how will bying a PS4 help? Shouldn't you ask for a refund instead and buy the videos? :)

I know hindsight is 20/20, but in general I would recommend doing more research and being more patient before a major purchase like this. Reviews of Xbox Fitness could've told you all of this so you weren't so caught off guard.

As for taking it back and getting a PS4, I don't see how that's going to satisfy your exercise thirst either. If you're not getting these consoles for the games first, maybe that money would be spent best elsewhere. Just a suggestion.

The Fitness feature also caught my eye, I was planning to show it to my mom. So we can both use the exercise videos (and her buying the console bwahahaha) but then I saw about microtransaction thing and it kind of killed my plan because my mom won't buy into that.

I'm more upset actually. None of the reviews I read about Xbox Fitness talked about the limited programs. All I heard through MS's presentations was that Xbox Fitness would come with "enough videos that if you did each one each day it would take you the whole year to finish them." That to me sounded like they were gonna have t he full programs. I'm not really gonna buy a PS4 right now, I think that was out of disappointment. But I am seriously considering buying a PS3 on Black Friday, return the One, and purchase maybe Asylum. We'll see. I'm going to keep the Xbox this weekend, play with it, and see if I change my mind.

buy a Wii U

Wii U needs all support it can get right now .

Wait... So you made a gaming console purchase based on an work out app?! Seriously? Didn't the wii teach anyone that this doesn't work.

Are you actually comparing insanity to Wii fit? Come on now. I've done 3+ rounds of Insanity and I can tell you it's no joke like Wii Fit.

Anyway, OP that is a bummer. The xbox fitness did look promising with the "free membership" but nothing in this world that's free is as promised. HOWEVER, I wouldn't return the console just because the fitness app isn't up to standards. Think it over first!!! Or just buy Insanity! :D
