They can't support 3 different systems on their own....

Nintendo can't support 3 consoles, they are having a hard enough time with 2.

Beat me to it by seconds -.-

They´d spread themselves too thin. They´re having a hard time supporting two systems, let alone three.

It´d be a very quick way to really fuck up their business.

2nd hypothetical thread about the same topic in two days :/

Around the Network

Since when do "hardcore gamers" not want to play SMBU? Its party games and mini games that make them churn. SMBU is full on harcore retro at its best.

An all round entertainment system is what people need. People wouldnt buy the Wii line because they would feel like they are getting the crapper console. People wouldnt buy the Ultra because they feel like they are getting half a console.

Plus i am sure 3rd parties will b more than happy creating games for just two good selling platforms wrather than stretching their resources over 3 consoles.

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

Wouldn`t that split the potential userbase for Nintendo consumers?
Wouldn`t that actually imply that all SW would sell less because people wouldn´t pay for two consoles to get all games?

So to enjoy both Zelda and New Super Mario Bros. you'd have to buy two home consoles? Yay...

If you want Nintendo's home console business to disappear then this is a great idea. I really don't understand this at all. You'd have to believe that people play either Zelda and Metroid or Mario and Wii Sports, and that no overlap exists. But the truth is that most enjoy games from both camps, and by splitting them up between two systems you'd end up with a situation where customers would have even bigger problems justifying a purchase.

We have to face reality: Nintendo has completely ceded the 3rd party "hardcore" business/fans. Whatever 3rd party support they get, is supplementary to Ninty's exclusives.

Nintendo was in great position...Brand power at an all time high, & had a 1 yr head start, to be the sole next gen system (in terms of power/performance)... but instead, opted for PS360 "optimized" performance + gamepad. Nintendo EASILY could have made the gamepad as a Wii balance board type, 1st party peripheral sold separately, (eventually making its way into future skus) used as a way to make money on their losses (Sony & MS have subscription services). Imagine $350 NSMBU deluxe, but maximized specs...power would be near XB1, and would have stolen some PS360 fans who were eager for next gen consoles.

As far as PS4/XB1 audience, Ninty will still try to be different, so the best we can hope for is a "3rd pillar" being introduced, ie. a mobile/dock solution, as early as 2015. Something like "N7" (nintendo's 7th console, & 7inch 1080p screen gametab) .

Below the hypothetical.

Nintendo creates a new brand name, much like Playstation for Sony, and produces a console on par with the PS4 and XB1 and releases it in mid-2014 to compete with the two. The console is called the Nintendo Ultra.

In the branding, Nintendo releases games like the mainline Zelda and 3D Mario for that console, as well as Metroid and other franchises aimed at that audience, and does not launch family-friendly games for it. Instead, the family friendly games like NSMB and Nintendoland only release on the Wii line console.

The Wii line is marketed at 199$ on launch from now onwards, with 99$ being the mid-gen pricing.

The Ultra line is marketed at 399$ on launch from no onwards, with 199$ being the mid-gen pricing.

Nintendo continues its current strat for the Wii line, and uses more aggressive tactics for its Ultra line.

What happens?

Drop this topic already .... man this is your second Thread..... It was bad enough the first time.

Beside WiiU is about to pull a 3DS turn around.

You think someone at Nintendo can just go to the can and poop out a next-gen Console.
